New episode out of "The Diversity in Research Podcast": If AI, open science and impact are transforming science - where does that leave diversity? 🤷♂️ In this episode Lachlan Stephen-Smith and I talk to Suze Kundu and Simon Porter from Digital Science about their report: “Research Transformation: Change in the Era of AI, open and Impact: voices from the Academic Community." And while that transformation is probably unstoppable, we should have a conversation about how it unfolds, the potential negative consequences and who might pay the price. One of the things we discussed is that what might seem like 'bureaucracy' for you might be the one thing that protects my personal security as a minority person. Luckily they were up for a good discussion. The report puts a lot of these transformations in a broader context in the global research ecosystem, and while we might not agree with everything in the report, the conclusions and questions for reflection will drive the conversation and transformation. Many asked me to share my doctoral dissertation after finishing 3 years of research last year. Besides Google Scholar, I refrained from distributing my 200+ pages of work as I can't bear to read them again myself 😂 .
