Have you read? Phoebe Philo has spoken. Honestly, I found the interview quite dull because it transpired it is an exercise she doesn't like. As a consequence, it felt like Vanessa Friedman had to fish for information and embroider around the few things Philo told her. One thing, I am so skeptical about is how she lamented about the logistics of having an online business, probably to vaguely answer the many complaints customers had ordering on her platform. It didn't sit well with me because these are issue smaller designers with less money and no back up from LVMH handle and have addressed before. If they had the audacity to say their platform was a work in progress - because that was what was said in a nutshell in this interview - they would be pilloried (and this with a price point that is not Phoebe Philo's). Logistics, for an online retailer, will never be perfect in my opinion, BUT it doesn't prevent you from striving for achieving the best. A couple of days ago, I listened to a podcast with Mytheresa North America president in which she explained that logistics, returns, etc., will always be an issue that online retailers have to constantly solve. As an example, she explained how when she ordered from multibrands in the US her order would take one to two weeks whereas Mytheresa, which has its distribution center, in Germany, still manages to cater to customers in the USA within 3-4 working days. So, there are examples to learn from. Just saying.
