JOURNALISM ALERT via Aaron Maté 'In establishment media, the conventional narrative is that Tuesday’s US presidential election carries high stakes for Ukraine’s future, with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump said to represent radically different visions for the proxy war with Russia. The reality is likely far less dramatic. The Biden administration is already signaling that no matter who next occupies the White House, the US abandonment of a Ukrainian client that has outlived its utility is already set in stone. And so long as he keeps relying on the same “partners” who instructed him to abandon a peace deal with Russia, Zelensky faces more humiliations from his fateful mistake.' Aaron Maté There is no joy in watching the egg run down the faces of MSM-Canada stenographers. Embedded military and foreign affairs reporters indeed continue to manufacture consent for Canada's belligerent US-led NATO go-along war policy, to the last Ukrainian. Courtesy of Canadian clown princes and princesses of disinformation like Justin Ling, Terry Glavin, Warren Kinsella, Rosemary Barton, DiManno Rosie, Andrew Coyne, Murray Brewster Omar Sachedina Dawna Friesen Adrienne Arsenault Steven Chase Robert Fife Evan Solomon et al, accountability journalism is as dead and buried as the tens of thousands of Ukrainians who died in a needless war promoted by the Canadian establishment press. Here's hoping that outraged journalism educators and students across the land will open for debate the collapse of international affairs journalism in the Canadian legacy press. #Ukraine #Russia #accountabilityjournalism #MSM #foreignaffairs

In a recent move reflecting the deepening conflict between Russia and the European Union, the Kremlin has announced a ban on 81 European media outlets, including major names like Agence France-Presse and Politico. This action is a direct response to the EU's suspension of several Russian media platforms, which were accused of spreading propaganda related to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry argues that the ban is a necessary measure against what it views as politically motivated harassment of Russian journalists in Europe. However, this escalation underscores the growing risks for journalists operating in hostile environments and the broader implications for global media freedom. As the situation develops, it's crucial to remain informed and understand the broader context of these media restrictions, especially as they affect not only the flow of information but also the safety and operational capabilities of journalists around the world. Disinformation trends from Slovakia: In the past fortnight, Infosecurity.sk highlights a surge in disinformation trends. These include: ➡️ The ruling coalition under Robert Fico pushes its "sovereign foreign policy" globally, spreading fear about Slovakia's role in the Ukraine war and falsely advocating for peace. ➡️ Praise floods in from the disinformation ecosystem for the Slovak-Russian ministerial meeting in Turkey, aiming to defend actions damaging Slovakia's reputation. On the other hand criticism arises over strained Czech-Slovak relations post-Russia rapprochement. ➡️ Slovak media faces aggressive rhetoric from officials, targeting journalists like RTVS and TV JOJ's presenters. 🔔 The European Federation of Journalists recently hosted an essential round table discussion, "Sustainable support for Ukrainian media: Why is it important during the war?" Our dialogue brought together colleagues from the media sector, various organizations, and European and Ukrainian officials to explore a sustainable financing model for Ukrainian journalists. The ongoing conflict has severely impacted Ukrainian media. Approximately 30% of Ukrainian media outlets have ceased operations, and over 20% have lost access to their premises and equipment due to Russian missile attacks and occupation. Given these harsh realities, local media have lost almost all sources of income. ❕We are calling for inclusion of media recovery topic in Ukraine's recovery programs, alongside the reconstruction of buildings and infrastructure.
