Climate change exacerbates the frequency and severity of droughts and other extreme weather events. See how we support anticipatory action pilots that help humanitarians to get ahead of these shocks and mitigate their impact on vulnerable people: https://lnkd.in/eFUG2jMw #WorldEnvironmentDay

As the climate crisis continues accelerating, the physical risks of climate change (such as rising sea levels, floods, droughts, extreme weather events, etc.) will become more commonplace. But for businesses to survive in this new "normal", they must adapt not only to these impacts but also to the risks of transitioning to a low-carbon economy. #ClimateCrisis #AdaptToSurvive #LowCarbonEconomy #ClimateChangeImpacts #BusinessResilience #SustainableBusiness #ClimateAction #ClimateResilience #TransitionToGreen #ClimateRiskManagement Rizal Zakaria Raabiah Samad

Unprecedented rapid climate changes are occurring with unprecedented increases of temperatures reaching 1.45°C in 2023 scratching 1.5°C, which is considered the temperature that could trigger tipping points. Crossing the tipping points may lead to irreversible changes. The window to act to avoid these tipping points is also rapidly narrowing. For information on the tipping points at https://www.operai.ca/. Such extreme events have already taken their toll on many global communities vulnerable to floods, forest fires, droughts and acute water shortages. #climatechange

Four ways that climate change is linked to extreme weather: 1. More extreme rain 2. Hotter, longer heatwaves 3. Longer droughts 4. More fuel for wildfires https://lnkd.in/gu7VAjPV #climatechange #extremeweather

Today is #EarthDay, a reminder of how important it is that we look after this place we all call home. Extreme weather a constant reminder of the impact we are having on the planet but additional flooding is not just a result of climate breakdown. We have also damaged Earth’s resilience to flooding by degrading the environment. Let's reflect on that today.
