🚨🐟 Overfishing is pushing our ocean to the brink. Four years past the UK's latest deadline to end overfishing, it’s time for real government action NOW. 🎣 Ending overfishing is integral to a healthy ocean, which in turn is essential for both communities and planet. 🌍 We've crafted an ambitious vision to turn the tide on overfishing. Read our roadmap to #SaveOurSeas here: https://lnkd.in/eSyMA5pq 🌊 Our seas can’t wait any longer. We must #EndOverfishing.
Interesting that recreational sea anglers, one the biggest groups involved in the marine ecosystem and with a massive network of intel, economic power and influence have not been consulted or mentioned. Angling groups are consulted by the Government and integral to the creation and management of FMPs across the UK - especially now we are recognised stakeholders in the management of our fisheries. Coastal communities rely of angling and angling tourism so any regeneration of the areas needs to take this into account. Apart for that omission a very interesting report - and the general principles of which I would support. Happy to help with more details or contact Hannah Rudd at the Angling Trust.
Best of luck

1moGreat report I particularly like this recommendation "All information on vessel ownership, licenses, quota holdings, authorisations and previous sanctions should be made public alongside real-time data of fishing operations to show where and when individual vessels are operating."
