📈 Day 14 of my 30-Day Data Analyst Skills Brush-Up Challenge! 📊 Today, I took on Project 1 - Real-World Dataset Analysis with the New York City Airbnb Open Data. This dataset contains detailed information about Airbnb listings in NYC, including prices, locations, and availability. I explored: - Loading the Dataset: Worked with the NYC Airbnb Open Data for a comprehensive analysis. - Data Cleaning and Preparation: Handled missing values, encoded categorical variables, and normalized numerical features. - Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Uncovered patterns and insights, visualized distributions, and examined relationships between features. - Feature Engineering: Created new features like reviews per month and availability ratio to enhance the model. - Predictive Modeling: Built and evaluated a Random Forest Regressor to predict listing prices. The dataset and results are used for educational purposes, demonstrating the application of advanced analysis techniques on real-world data. Check out the detailed notebook to see these techniques and visualizations in action! 🚀📅 Follow Tushar P. to tag along with the challenge #DataScience #MachineLearning #Airbnb #PredictiveModeling #Python #DataAnalysis #LearnInPublic #30DayChallenge #NYCAirbnb #EDA #FeatureEngineering #RandomForest #opentowork #Vancouver #Canada

Seven years ago, I embarked on a journey as a data analyst, diving into data interpretation, visualization, and insights generation. Over the years, I've honed my skills in making data-driven decisions, optimizing processes, and contributing to business growth. 📈 Now, I'm thrilled to share that I’m taking the leap into software development, with a focus on becoming a backend software engineer. This new path feels both challenging and exciting, and I'm eager to apply my analytical background to software, solving complex problems and building scalable solutions. 🌐💻 Looking forward to connecting with others on similar journeys and learning from the #tech and #developer communities! #CareerTransition #SoftwareDevelopment #BackendEngineering #DataAnalyst #LearningToCode #TechJourney

One of the greatest benefits of working at Uber when it was in hyper hyper growth was the variety of analytics projects I got to work on. In no particular order, I was lucky enough to be a part of: — Building a segmentation framework to win back riders post COVID — Quantifying the impact of global support tickets for UberPOOL — Measuring the incrementality of the customer referral program — Analyzing the best time to suggest drivers take their first trip — Competitive promotions trying to win the DC market — Identifying marketing channels to shut down — Helping to optimize > $1BN in Brand spend Without even mentioning the impact of these analyses, the sheer diversity of problems I got to explore is something I still look back fondly on. If you're an early career data analyst, try your hardest to join a rocketship. Your surface area will grow exponentially. And if you're looking to bring on analytics, look for people that have been on rocketships. Your company's surface area will grow exponentially.

"I've noticed that people in tech aren't as concerned about your background, as long as you can do the job. Learning on the job is the norm, and that's how everyone gets started in this field," explains Toronto-based Data Engineer Crystal Li. In 2022, Crystal swapped an Accounting career for one as an Engineer and she says there are few fields as rewarding. "It's important to remember that your previous experience and strengths are still relevant, even in a new environment. Having a different set of skills/experience helps you bring a fresh perspective to your teams." Ready for a change?
