I came across this old meme I built for a presentation highlighting the need for data protection. This particular example came from a real-life situation I experienced in my MSP days..... said situation is as follows: Junior Tech: Hey Andy... just wanted to let you know, i resolved a low memory alert ticket. Andy: Oh, nice! What was eating all the memory? Junior Tech: It was some process called sqlservr.exe so I just killed it from task manager. Andy: *Shocked Pikachu Face* Meanwhile - phones begin ringing in the distance, and service offline alerts start to roll in. It's funny now, but it wasn't funny then. While some of my peers would have gone the route of disparagement, I did my best to kindly use it as a teachable moment. I also like to point out that all of us in tech have had that moment. In my very first tech job (in 2003!) I once deleted an entire application share from the file server, which I promptly restored and prayed to the tape drive gods. That incident led me to have much respect for data safety and business continuity throughout my career. Everything can be a teachable moment. Even the seemingly silly ones. #sqlserver #informationsecurity #sysadmin #backup

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗞𝗲𝘆𝘀 🔑 In the world of databases, a 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗞𝗲𝘆 keeps everything connected and organized. In life, the right "keys"—trust, respect, and communication—create unbreakable bonds. Just like in code, every strong relationship needs a unique value that sets it apart. So, keep those keys strong, and watch your connections thrive. #OracleDeveloper #SQLDeveloper #PLSQLDeveloper #SoftwareEngineer

1. "How many backup admins does it take to screw in a lightbulb? None, they'd just restore from a previous save point." 2. Why don’t we let database administrators join our band? Because they always want to do a “join” on every “table”! 😄 3. "What do you call a big data analyst who's lost their job? Unemployed, with a huge dataset of skills." 4. "Why did the DBA cross the road? To get to the non-nullable side!" 5. Why did the storage admin get promoted? ...Because they could finally explain the difference between a terabyte and a thunderbolt! 6. What's a manager's favorite motivational quote? 'The buck stops... one desk over.'" 7. "Why was the computer cold at the office? Because it left its Windows open! 8. "Why did the software developer go broke? Because he used up all his cache!" #DebuggingLife #CodingHumor #CoffeeAndCode #ProgrammersBeLike #JustITThings #TechPuns #OfficeAntics #DataDrama #humor #IThumor #Jokes

I've been working on cleaning a dataset of layoffs using MySQL, and I learned this technique from watching Alex the Analyst on YouTube! To identify and remove duplicate records, I used a Common Table Expression (CTE) with the ROW_NUMBER() function: The CTE, duplicate_cte, assigns row numbers to each record partitioned by columns like company, location, industry, and more. Setting row_num > 1 filters out extra duplicate rows, keeping only the first instance of each unique record. Why It Matters: Data quality is essential for accurate analysis. By removing duplicates, I can ensure consistency and reliability in any insights derived from the data. #MySQL #DataCleaning
