DAY 14: DEFINE YOUR MARKETING GOALS. Okay, fine, you have gotten an idea about what it means to strategize and the elements that are necessary for digital marketing strategy, right? What about goals? How do you set up goals that align with the aim of the company or business that you own or that you are working for? What are these goals to be precise and what are their importance as a digital marketer? In getting my answers to these questions, the presenter made a clear distinction between BUSINESS GOALS AND MARKETING GOALS. Business goals are general - not entirely specific. They are desired aims, achievements, or outcomes for a business. They are typically big, long term & have the potential to affect an entire company. They often include goals such as increasing profits, gaining new customers, raising productivity, etc. While Marketing goals on the other hand tend to be smaller, more targeted and related to the marketing activities. They are specific objectives in the marketing area that should support the business' goals. That is, it should align. They often include raising brand awareness, increasing web traffic, etc. Goals help keep you on track. So, as a digital marketer, I am to know what my goals are for a brand or business' main goals. And in doing so, I was taught how to set the SMART goals so I can remain consistent and in line with what I am doing. S = Specific M = Measurable: What are the metrics that will determine whether the objective has been met? A = Attainable R = Relevant T = Time bound. As per what I am planning on doing in testing my skill as someone learning digital marketing, I intend on using this formula to help myself achieve a trial method on this journey. 8 Things I Wish I Knew When I Started Digital Marketing. Looking back at my 15 years journey in digital marketing, there are a few lessons I wish I had learned earlier. If you’re just starting, keep these in mind: 1️⃣ Customer focus is EVERYTHING Before diving into platforms and trends, it’s essential to understand your customer. Knowing their pain points and desires drives everything else. 2️⃣ Trends come and go In digital marketing, trends are exciting but fleeting. What’s popular today might be obsolete tomorrow. Build strategies that are adaptable and grounded in solid principles rather than chasing every new trend. 3️⃣ Product-market fit matters more than tactics You can spend a fortune on marketing, but if your product doesn’t solve a problem, nothing will stick. Get your product-market fit right first. 4️⃣ Patience is key Digital marketing success doesn’t happen overnight. I learned that long-term strategies and persistence always beat short-term hacks. Stay patient and keep refining your approach. The journey is as important as the destination. 5️⃣ Data is your best friend Track and optimize everything. Metrics and analytics will guide you in optimizing your strategies. The more you rely on data-driven decisions, the better your campaigns will perform over time. 6️⃣ Content is King, but Context is Queen: Great content is essential, but the context in which it’s delivered is equally important. Tailor your message to fit the platform and audience. 7️⃣ Networking is Vital: Building relationships with industry peers can provide valuable insights and opportunities. Engage with others, share knowledge, and grow together. 8️⃣ Learn Continuously: The digital marketing field is dynamic. Make learning a continuous part of your career to stay ahead of the curve.
