Pregnancy and the nursing of babies can bring with it yet more musculoskeletal challenges. The extra weight requires additional strength and resilience throughout the body. However, we believe that with the right education, mothers can see these challenges as opportunities to work on their posture. For example, this young mother in Burkina Faso (left) is using her inner corset to remain tall, stable, and relaxed while carrying on her head with her baby on her back. Gokhale Method teacher Esther Pohl (right) found that traditional posture principles really work, and carried her second child much more comfortably. To help our strong moms this Mother's Day, we are offering a special Mother's Day discount on our 25-minute Online Initial Consultation. Our Initial Consultations offer a detailed analysis of one's posture and chart a personalized sequence of techniques essential for one's continued learning, tailored specifically to your goals. Book here: https://bit.ly/4dx4Fn2 Share this with all moms and other parents who need guidance and support in their motherhood journey! In 2019, the UK Care Quality Commission Survey found that more than 1 in 10 births take place in water. Research has shown that that women having a water birth in a hospital obstetric unit had fewer medical interventions and complications during and after birth. Here are some of the benefits of labouring and giving birth in water, ▫️The warm water can help to relax, soothe and comfort you. ▫️The support of the water means you can try different positions and move more freely. ▫️When upright in the water, gravity will help move the baby down towards the birth canal. ▫️Being in water can lower your blood pressure and reduce feelings of anxiety, making your body more able to release endorphins, which can help ease pain. ▫️The water can help to improve back pain and the feeling of pressure, especially when you are fully dilated. ▫️Being in the pool during labour and birth can be a “cosy” experience, making you feel safe. Would you consider having a water birth? Did you know that up to one-third of women experience incontinence after childbirth. This is due to the strain placed on the pelvic floor muscles and nerves during delivery. The pressure from the baby's head can stretch and weaken these muscles, making it challenging to control urine flow. While some women may experience temporary urinary incontinence that resolves on its own as the muscles regain strength, others may have persistent issues requiring intervention. Pelvic floor exercises, also known as Kegel exercises, can help strengthen the muscles supporting the bladder and urethra, potentially improving urinary control. However, the effectiveness of these exercises may vary depending on the severity of the condition and individual factors. It's crucial for women experiencing urinary incontinence to consult with Doctor for proper evaluation and guidance on the most appropriate management strategies.
