As we begin this new era as the Fanconi Cancer Foundation, it's amazing to see the incredible strides we've made over the past 35 years. From once viewing Fanconi anemia (FA) as a childhood blood disease to understanding its complexities as a lifelong DNA repair disorder and cancer-susceptibility disease, our evolution has been remarkable. Here is a snapshot of our achievements: 🔬 Discovering and identifying 23 FA genes. 💪 Achieving a 95% success rate in transplants at FA centers. 🌱 Supporting a thriving community of adults with FA. 🔍 Understanding the link between FA and cancer. Our success has led us to our next challenge: cancer. But we're prepared. None of this progress would have been possible without the unwavering support of our researchers, donors, families, clinicians, staff, and volunteers. As we share our Impact Report, we're celebrating past victories and charting our course for the future. This document serves as your roadmap, highlighting major milestones, our history, inspirational stories, progress in 2023, future focus, upcoming research projects, and a heartfelt thank you. Fantastic to hear that our State of the System research into the needs and wellbeing of children and young people with cancer has gone global! 🌏 Our report - created with Young Lives vs Cancer Teenage Cancer Trust Ellen MacArthur Foundation and Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) - identifies the gaps in #cancer support and areas which need vital transformation so that every child and young person facing cancer receives care that’s tailored to them. Today Cancer Research UK (CRUK) launches More Research, Less Cancer – the largest ever philanthropic campaign by a UK charity. Our ambition is big: to raise £400m to power life-changing research that will transform how we understand and overcome cancer. Research that has the potential to save and improve countless lives.   I've been humbled to meet visionary individuals who share our passion and appetite for discovery and translating results into patient benefit, and I hope that this campaign will allow us to inspire many more people.   Philanthropic support allows us to be bolder and to take ideas from lab to clinic faster. It means we can take risks, challenge, innovate, seize opportunities and capitalise on international collaboration to improve and save millions of lives.   But we need to go further and that’s why we’ve launched our new campaign today.
