Designed by industry professionals and subject matter experts, these boards include 20 different images and phrases, ensuring a diverse range of customers can access your business. 🔹 Accessible Information: Our Accessible Information team has translated the Conference Program, Accessibility Guide, and Where to Stay Guide into Easy Read. This initiative ensures that our documents benefit the 44% of people living in Australia with low literacy, including individuals with disabilities, people from CALD backgrounds, and older Australians. (2/8) What did we learn at the first Impact Day of VISITFLANDERS Convention Bureau, #MEET4IMPACT and Global Destination Sustainability Movement (GDS-Movement)? That not only conferences have impact. Tourism has impact, too. And even the table at which you meet. Tina Verstuyft of Toerisme Vlaanderen - VISITFLANDERS explained that tourism can be a positive force, whose positive effects are directly experienced by the community. She proved this with a telling example: the “Everyone Deserves a Holiday” initiative by Visit Flanders, which offers people with disabilities or in underprivileged situations the chance to still go on vacation. Designer Hannelore Martens created a conference table that invites reflection. One person has more space - and consequently more power - than the other person at the table. If you change places during the decision-making process, you put yourself in the situation of your discussion partner. Making tourism more accessible is not only a 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 – there is also a compelling 𝙗𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙚 for improving accessibility as it can boost the competitiveness of Tourism in Europe". From this definition we can understand how accessible tourism, is related not only to the issue of inclusion but also to the economy of the local area, because making facilities accessible increases both the number of visitors and the number of tour operators.
