🤝🏼Collaboration in Action🤝🏼 Our first workshop—Strategic Change and Strengths-Based Approaches: Co-Production Every Step of the Way—explored successful examples of co-production, challenges, and the power of co-production for both local authorities and individuals. Co-production with people with lived experience of social care and health underpins and informs what SCIE and Think Local Act Personal (TLAP) do. At #NCASC, we’ve been discussing how vital it is in digital innovation, ensuring tech delivers what people need. Co-production is about working in partnership with people receiving social care, carers, and families, so that they can drive the way that services are designed, commissioned and delivered. Popping up in our #brain_food Slack channel this past week were fresh models for making democracy happen, another call for the localisation of aid, a new and exciting meta-analysis of behaviour change determinants... and tiny giraffes! If you've read, seen or listened to anything recently that has changed your thinking recently, we'd love to hear about it in the comments :) And thank you to Abigail, David, Matthew and Miranda for this weeks nourishment. ✅ 𝐁𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 The New Citizen Project has spent the last four years developing and testing a framework designed to make the decision-making process for democratic institutions quicker, more inclusive and more impactful. Take a look at the full report here: https://lnkd.in/eNNjtPNg 🗺 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 > 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 Over in The Guardian's Global Development section, journalist Fred Harter has written a great piece on why local charities could be part of the solution to the current crisis in the humanitarian system... And the systemic issues which are stopping the localisation of aid at scale. https://lnkd.in/e9kSPvkA? 💡 𝐃𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 This week Nature published a large and very significant meta-analysis of behaviour change determinants which shows that "circumventing obstacles to enacting desirable behaviours" is far more effective at changing minds than just giving people information that you hope will change their beliefs. We couldn't agree more! https://lnkd.in/dEAgFmwy 🦒 𝐒𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐮𝐭 Okay, you made it all the way to the end, so here is a bowl of tiny giraffes as a reward! Thank you Robin Weinick, PhD, ACC for the inspiration, we are developing stealing this idea. https://lnkd.in/ekDcYgb7 P.S. Meet our 2024 Tomorrow Maker - Tasha Ritchie! Accountable Futures Collective (AFC) addresses the accountability void between promises made to young people and their experiences in reality. AFC works alongside young people to lead engagement, design, and systemic reform work across sectors to hold systems accountable for their role in young people’s lives. AFC collaborates with organisations and communities to create frameworks, processes, and practices that enable adults and institutions to become more responsive and accountable to young people. Tasha now wishes to develop a social enterprise to support the work of AFC that provides expertise to organisations/communities to co-design and embed accountability methodology that extends current youth engagement practice. The products created through the application of this methodology are fit-for-purpose mechanisms that enable organisations/institutions and communities to become more responsive to young people, and deliver on their missions. 👉 Stay tuned to meet more of our 2024 Tomorrow Makers! #AMPFoundation #TomorrowMakers #SPARKProgram #SocialEntrepreneurship #SocialImpact #socentau #socent

With the UK government presenting their new budget this week, how do we ensure more money flows to those who need it the most? Addressing power dynamics in funding to enable us to redistribute more money to underserved communities is crucial to that process. In The Giving Lab, a community-led funding model, the team went on a journey of identifying and addressing power dynamics. Starting with the co-design of a radically different funding model that centres equity, democracy and inclusivity, see how we addressed macro- and micro power dynamics throughout the journey in the map below. Learn more on how we adapted to these findings on our Impact & Learning page https://lnkd.in/eQXVwniv #TSIP #CommunityFunding #PGM #AddressingPower #Redistribution

Today, the discourse on #sustainability is heavily focused on the climate transition. But what are its #social costs? How can the European Union safeguard its social model while preserving the environment? What is the role of public and private investments? Organised by PlusValue and IFAB - International Foundation Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for Human Development, the lecture by Former European Commission Director Dr Lieve Fransen “Investing in Our Social Model: The future of EU social impact at the crossroads between policy and investing” will discuss how the #EU will address these issues. The event will include a contribution by the Commission’s former President, Professor Romano Prodi. During the lecture, we will explore the potential for the transformation of the welfare state through a new paradigm for collaboration between the private and public sectors. A paradigm focused on investing in #socialinfrastructures, real assets with intrinsic social value. The event will also see the contribution of filippo addarii, Co-Founder of PlusValue, and Marco Becca, Director at iFAB. 🗓 Date: October 17th, 2024 ⏰ Time: 18:00 - 19:00 CET 👉 Streaming: https://lnkd.in/dGUB8srN

Meet Shamira Ahmed, the chair of the #D4DHub civil society and academia advisory group. At #CAS2024, we spoke with her about the foundational principles, activities, benefits and goals of the advisory group. Her insights highlighted the vital role civil society and academia play in fostering a values-based digital transformation. Civil society organisations amplify the voices of marginalised and vulnerable groups, ensuring that governments and the private sector are held accountable. The academic community provides evidence, helping D4D Hub members shape a digital transformation that benefits both people and the planet. Together, these partnerships are key to creating a digital future that is inclusive, equitable and sustainable.
