November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, and we are joining in efforts to raise awareness about diabetes, a condition that affects nearly 37 million people in the U.S. alone. At Modus Outcomes, we are committed to centering the patient’s voice in clinical research and drug development. We believe that by understanding and amplifying the lived experiences of people with diabetes, we can contribute to creating therapies and care solutions that truly address their needs and improve outcomes. We’re proud to support efforts like those of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), which provides a wealth of resources for patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers alike. We encourage you to explore their National Diabetes Month toolkit, which includes valuable information on the management and prevention of diabetes. Let’s work toward a future where everyone living with diabetes feels heard, supported, and empowered to lead a healthy life. Please reach out to Qammer Azim if you are interested in learning more about how Modus Outcomes can help address your patient-centered outcomes research challenges. #DiabetesAwarenessMonth #PatientCenteredCare #OutcomesResearch #PatientVoice #PCOR

🔴 Today's World Diabetes Day follows the groundbreaking international study, published yesterday by The Lancet, which found that the number of people with diabetes has doubled in the last 30 years, swelling to 800 million people worldwide. More work must be done on a national and international level to reduce these numbers, particularly on early diagnosis and prevention. Diabetes UK estimates that over 3.2 million people are at an increased risk of type 2 diabetes in the UK, with a further 1.2 million people living with diabetes who are undiagnosed. Increased diagnostic testing can identify those with the condition, meaning they can access treatment immediately and improve their health outcomes. While monitoring those at-risk of type-2 diabetes can help them to prevent its onset. Each year, type 2 diabetes treatment costs the NHS 10% of it's annual budget. Therefore greater utilisation of diagnostic testing will not just save and improve lives, it will also lead to significant savings. This #HeartMonth, Verily recognizes diabetes and heart disease often go hand in hand. People living with diabetes have twice the risk of heart disease, and higher risk of contributing conditions, such as hypertension and high cholesterol. (1) Onduo is Verily’s virtual care solution that helps put better management of T2D in more people’s hands. A peer-reviewed, 4-month study of Onduo for T2D with intermittent CGM use showed marked A1C improvements and other heart-disease risk factors, such as systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and weight.* Explore the research: https://bit.ly/3UUGrfz (1) Diabetes and Your Heart. 🔍 Did you know? Diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease often go hand-in-hand, creating a dangerous health cycle. Managing blood glucose levels is essential in breaking this cycle and improving patient outcomes. 💡 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) is a game-changer: Provides real-time glucose data for better decision-making. Helps prevent complications tied to obesity and heart disease. Supports a proactive approach to diabetes care. At DDP Medical Supplies, we help DMEs bring CGM solutions to patients, enhancing care while creating new revenue streams. Let’s fight the health crisis together—one glucose reading at a time. 📩 Reach out to me or contact Dr. Liz Pekas for more details and how CGM can benefit your practice and patients. #DanielDDPMedicalSupply #DiabetesCare #CGM #DME #CardiovascularHealth #ObesityCare

National Diabetes Month 2024: Taking Action to Prevent Diabetes Problems 🩸 4.4 million people are diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and a further 1.2 million are estimated to be undiagnosed. People living with diabetes are at much higher risk of sudden cardiac death (two to eight times more likely than non-diabetic people) due to changes in heart rhythm. This risk can be increased when medicines which cause heart rhythm changes are prescribed 🫀 At our not-for-profit academic research arm/sister organisation, Richmond Research Institute, we are undertaking pioneering research to understand the patient factors which put people with diabetes at this increased risk. Read about our research here: https://lnkd.in/eVNvicbx This National Diabetes Month we support all researchers who are working to prevent diabetes problems 👏

CGMs (continuous glucose monitors) give a powerful real-time view of how our bodies respond to what we eat. Interesting research presented by Virta Health's team at the recent American Diabetes Association annual meeting showed dramatic improvements in "time in range". Our approach helped patients with type 2 diabetes move from having normal blood sugar ~60% of the time to ~90% of the time, even as they took fewer medications to help control blood sugar. Food is the way! And whether it's a CGM (latest & greatest) or a more traditional BGM (blood glucose monitor), the results were astonishingly similar - patients increased their time in range dramatically, reduced their hBa1c, and took fewer meds. What the numbers don't show is what we hear from our members...they also *feel better* - more energy, less inflammation, more positive mental state. https://lnkd.in/eBjj3v8q #metabolichealth

It’s 5:05 am and couldn’t sleep because I was thinking about you. Something great is happening for you Diabetes reversal is possible and has been achieved. Evidence based therapeutic approaches has come forward. The conventional view has been that T2DM is irreversible and progressive. However, in 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) global report on diabetes added for the first time a section on diabetes reversal and acknowledged that it could be achieved through a number of therapeutic approaches. Many studies indicate that diabetes reversal, and possibly even long-term remission, is achievable, belying the conventional view.

Today is World Diabetes Day. Understanding diabetes is the first step in managing and preventing its complications. In North America, the rate of adults over 65 years of age with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) exceeds 20%. Therefore T2DM is an established priority within primary care. A research study conducted by Joanie Sims Gould, RSW, PhD and colleagues, aimed to understand the barriers and facilitators to implement Group Appointment in Primary Care (GAP), to see the efficacy of a group, and team-based visit programme to lower hemoglobin A1c among patients with T2DM. If you’re interested in knowing the results of this research, visit: https://lnkd.in/gTPfNgSH Congratulations to all co-authors, Catherine Tong, Jessica Ly, Sara Vazirian, Adriaan Windt, and Karim Khan. #WorldDiabetesDay #Diabetes #DiabetesAwareness

How can you better manage your diabetes through blood sugar and blood pressure regulation? Find out in HealthCentral’s article: https://bit.ly/3XOTwsl Jeanine Barone’s article explores the relationship between blood sugar, blood pressure, and diabetes. Having diabetes makes it more difficult to regulate both. “High blood sugar can worsen and potentiate high blood pressure through several means,” says Ian Neeland, M.D., an Associate Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. In addition, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)—a side effect of some diabetes medications—can also increase blood pressure, according to Matthew J. Freeby, M.D., Director of the UCLA Gonda Diabetes Center and Associate Director of Diabetes Clinical Programs at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA.
