Earlier last week, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India hosted a pivotal roundtable discussion on the intentional integration of nutrition into climate-resilient agriculture (CRA). It was an honor to represent WRI India in this insightful consultation. The challenges in this field are immense, yet the opportunities to shift towards #resilience and #sustainability are equally significant. CRA emphasizes the integration of adaptation, mitigation, and best practices to increase a system’s ability to resist damage and recover swiftly from climate-related disturbances. At its core, CRA is about fostering sustainable solutions through the judicious management of natural resources—land, water, soil, and genetic resources—to create agricultural systems that can truly "bounce back." At WRI India we are committed to strengthening the intersection of nutrition and climate resilience in agriculture, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable future for India. Looking forward to continued collaboration and innovative solutions in this vital area! 💡🌏 #ClimateResilience #SustainableAgriculture #CollaborationForImpact

Founded in 2021 by Diwakar Bedekar, Nourishing Farms emerged from a deep-rooted mission to transform agriculture and the healthy food industry in India. Diwakar, who grew up in an agricultural family in Kolhapur, initially built a successful career in engineering and IT, working with top MNCs in the US. But his passion for meaningful change led him back to India to launch Nourishing Farms. ✨ His vision is clear: to make agriculture more appealing to the younger generation, more profitable for farmers, and more sustainable for the planet. #NourishingFarms combines innovation and technology with traditional Indian agriculture by adopting hydroponics—a soil-less farming method that grows fresh, pesticide-free vegetables using 90% less water and yielding 10 times more produce. These farm-fresh vegetables are used in their cafes to create a variety of salads, sandwiches, smoothies, spreads, and cold-pressed juices, making healthy eating easy and accessible for everyone. Nourishing Farms is committed to delivering top-quality fresh food year-round while working to double the income of marginalized farmers through a tech-driven, integrated farming model. The company also #empowers women by creating local employment opportunities and upholds sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact, aiming to be Good for Consumers, Good for Farmers, and Good for the Planet. ➡️ Showcase your AgriStartup on Your AgriStory : https://lnkd.in/gA8jeYJv Saloni Jadhav #NourishingFarms #startupstory #agristory #agritech #youragristory

Five Krishi Sakhis & the Tulsipatra team (Utthan's theatre collaborator) performed 'Grow for Tomorrow' (a skit they use for sustainable agriculture education) at the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare's Regional Consultation on the Science of Natural Farming in Pune. The applause received had two meanings for me: deep and bold. Utthan believes in building women's individual & collective leadership as core to addressing any issue. It's experience corroborates the far reaching positive impact this has for women and young girls who face significantly disproportionate challenges due to social, economic, political, and environmental marginalization and also, how this becomes a means to breaking deep rooted stereotypes. 👍When women lead, the process itself is a journey of empowerment for her and all her peers 👍When women lead, they build an identity of women and their contribution to various sectors 👍When women lead, they become role models and open pathways for many others 👍When women lead, solutions are based on their lived realities and those of others in vulnerable positions 👍When women lead, they collaborate with & influence stakeholders in the ecosystem 👍When women lead, they are being fearless and breaking the glass ceiling And therefore leadership building of grassroots women is a strategy which runs across anything we do at Utthan. #womenempowerment #womensleadership #breaktheglassceiling #UtthanGujarat
“I learnt sustainable agriculture practices and have been applying them in my own farm for a few years now. As a Krushi Sakhi, I have been educating and handholding 90 women farmers in my village. We work as part of the Mahila Sangathan. I took a flight for the first time in my life. This was possible due to the kind invitation we received to perform here. It was a great experience.” Echoed by Laxmiben, Vanitaben, Bhavnaben, Sangitaben & Jayaben all practicing farmers and Krushi Sakhi as they stood on the stage after performing, ‘Grow for Tomorrow: Adopt Sustainable Agriculture Today’, at the Regional Consultation of Science of Natural Farming organised by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India and co-organised by Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra. The skit performed by Utthan’s Theatre collaborator, Tulsipatra Art Foundation & Krishi Sakhis was very well received and women farmers received encouragement for their exemplary work. In the photo is the delegation proudly posing after their felicitation by the Smt. Yogita Rana, honourable Joint Secretary (INM), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India. Dantewada Agricultural University announced a spot appreciation of Rs.11000 for the group. #SustainableAgriculture #WomenInFarming #KrushiSakhi #MahilaSangathan #GrowForTomorrow #NaturalFarming #WomenEmpowerment #AgricultureInnovation #FarmersWelfare #TulsipatraArtFoundation #AgricultureEducation #FarmersOfIndia #WomenFarmers #AgricultureMinistry #GovernmentofIndia #NGOIndia #NGOGujarat #Utthangujarat

#Organicfarming in India is rapidly gaining momentum, offering significant potential to boost farmer incomes, promote sustainability, and cater to growing consumer demand for healthier food. With over 2.8 million hectares of certified organic farmland, India is now a global leader in organic #agriculture. However, challenges like costly certification, lack of market access, and financial strain for small #farmers need urgent attention. Government initiatives like the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (#PKVY) and Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCDNER) are helping farmers transition, but more support is essential. Streamlining certification processes, enhancing market #infrastructure, and expanding financial protection for organic farmers can pave the way for more inclusive growth. As we move towards sustainable agriculture, it’s vital to recognize the role of organic farming in shaping a healthier, #greenerfuture for India. #OrganicFarming #Sustainability #Agriculture #India #FarmerEmpowerment

Yatham Jyothi, a paddy farmer belonging to a village in the Nalgonda district of #Telangana state, was one of the first in this region to switch to #DirectSeededRice. With an increase in yield and reduced reliance on already scarce labor, she has been successful in making her farm profitable and improving the well-being of her family. #Rice is a staple crop nourishing over 60% of India's population, but traditional farming methods have a negative environmental impact. Farmers like Jyothi are leading the change by practising #RegenerativeAgriculture with Bayer's support. By 2030, we aim to expand adoption of #DSR to one million hectares, helping two million #Smallholder farmers and their families in the country. Bayer's #BetterLifeStories, in partnership with @TheBetterIndia, shares inspiring stories from our communities where Bayer's support helps dreams take flight and enables people and the planet to thrive. #HealthForAllHungerForNone #RegenAg #Carbonfarming
