As I reflect on my seven years in the #meatrendering Industry, I am struck by the sheer magnitude of its operations and the often-overlooked aspects of its processes. One such element that warrants attention is the utilization of #poultry feathers, a topic that rarely crosses the minds of consumers as they enjoy their chicken dinners. Prior to my involvement with ANCO Equipment & Services, LLC, I, like many others, indulged in roast chicken dinners and spicy Buffalo wings without giving much thought to what happens to the feathers on these birds. It never occurred to me to question the fate of those feathers or the sheer volume involved in #poultryprocessing. Yet, the reality is striking. Feathers constitute approximately 12% of a chicken's weight, translating to roughly ¾ of a pound of feathers per bird. When multiplied by the staggering number of broiler chickens processed annually in the USA – an astounding 9 billion birds – the resulting quantity is mind-boggling. We're talking about 700 million pounds of feathers per year, a figure that demands attention. So, what becomes of this vast amount of feather material? This is where #meatprocessing and ANCO come into play. In my upcoming discussions, I will delve into the intricacies of how this material is processed and the myriad of applications it serves. Stay tuned as we shed light on the indispensable role of #animalrendering in maximizing resource utilization and driving sustainability in the poultry industry.

My chicken was a little too raw. 😂😂😂 At least I know they use fresh ingredients lol. I didn't how many species of chickens there are in the world! There are hundreds of chicken breeds and varieties around the world, but when it comes to species, the domestic chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is primarily descended from the red junglefowl (Gallus gallus). In terms of distinct breeds, there are over 25 recognized by major poultry associations, with many more local or lesser-known breeds existing globally. The number can vary widely depending on classification criteria and geographic location! Whats your favorite chicken? Mine is fried lol. 🤤 #ChickenLife #BackyardChickens #ChickenCoop #PoultryFarming #avitrol #birdcontrol #pestcontrol #wildlife #birds
