European Innovation on the move! We are excited to share the insights from the first report on the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA) 📈 The report showcases the remarkable strides made in driving innovation, collaboration and sustainable growth across 🇪🇺. Twenty months after its launching, this roadmap is in full swing: 13 out of its 25 actions have been completed, 1 is ongoing and more than 200 measures have been taken by Member States and Associated Countries💡 The NEIA builds on existing successful programmes (such as the European Innovation Council - EIC, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology - EIT, or InvestEU) but introduced new elements, such as: ➡ New Directives proposed by the Commission to facilitate listing for SMEs and to encourage investments in equity. ➡New or expanded mechanisms to encourage venture capital, such as ESCALAR or the European Tech Champions Initiative. ➡Networks of regions (European Innovation Valleys), of Universities (ErasmusPlus Alliances for Innovation) and of promising scale-ups (EIC-Scale Up 100 Club) launched or about to be launched. ➡Actions in the areas of innovation procurement, experimentation spaces or stock options for employees ➡Training opportunities such as the EIT deep-tech talent initiative, addressed to 1 million young innovators The European Agenda and the complementary actions taken by Member States offer an impressive picture of a vibrant and dynamic landscape, focused on competitiveness, strategic autonomy and green/digital transitions. This represents a solid starting point for future actions, where an enhanced coordination among national and EU measures as well as increased public and private investments will play a key role to boost innovation made in Europe 🌍 #EuropeanInnovation #EUInnovationAgenda

EIC Work Programme 2025 Executive Summary: The “EIC Work Programme 2025”, developed under the European Innovation Council (EIC) (established by the European Commission), highlights key initiatives and funding aimed at accelerating #Europe’s #leadership in #strategictechnologies. With a €1.4 billion budget, the program primarily targets deep #techstartups and #SMEs in fields such as #digital, #green, and #healthinnovations. Key Program Components: 1. EIC STEP Scale-up Pilot: A new investment pathway offering substantial equity funding (€10–30 million per project) specifically to scale strategic #europeantechnologies. This initiative addresses a critical funding gap for later-stage deep tech companies, complementing existing EIC Accelerator support. 2. Streamlined Application and Support: Enhanced efficiency in application evaluations, including monthly batch evaluations for quick feedback, and increased access to Business Acceleration Services (#BAS), especially for firms in underrepresented “widening” regions within the European Union. 3. Project and Portfolio Oversight: EIC introduces proactive management by Program Managers, with milestone-based reviews and continued support to ensure funded projects meet technological and market goals. 4. Recognition and Inclusivity: Through the Seal of Excellence and expanded eligibility, EIC recognizes high-quality proposals meeting evaluation thresholds, aiming to widen participation across Europe’s innovation ecosystem. Conclusion The EIC’s 2025 program underscores a strategic, structured approach to nurturing high-impact innovations and fostering resilience in Europe’s tech landscape. This framework signals EIC’s commitment to expanding both financial and operational support for breakthrough technology firms poised for global influence.

🤝Commission funds Regional Innovation Valleys with €116 million to strengthen competitiveness and promote innovation. The Commission has identified 151 regions in the EU as Regional Innovation Valleys (RIVs), as part of the New European Innovation Agenda (NEIA). By bringing together a range of regions across Europe with different innovation levels and linking up their key innovation actors, RIVs aim to strengthen regional innovation ecosystems, bridge the innovation gap in Europe and improve Europe's overall innovation performance. The EU will support this initiative with €116 million under the European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE) programme of Horizon Europe, the EU research and innovation programme, and the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument of the European Regional Development Fund. 72 regions with different levels of development and innovation performance are on track to become Regional Innovation Valleys, subject to the signature of the grant agreements. 🎣 How do we foster innovation through external collaborations? Prior to engaging the ecosystem of experts in extensive knowledge-sharing and insights gathering from knowledge platforms, I concur that selecting the right Open Innovation (OI) mechanisms is crucial, taking into account project complexity [Bagherzadeh, 2024]. A practical framework tailored to project-level dynamics is outlined in 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟕 “𝐴𝑙𝑖𝑔𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑂𝐼 𝑀𝑒𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑠𝑚𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑗𝑒𝑐𝑡 𝐴𝑡𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑏𝑢𝑡𝑒𝑠”, as discussed by Mehdi Bagherzadeh during the enlightening #OIThursday hosted by Marisol Menendez (link: https://lnkd.in/dixF6Vcd). Thanks to targeted OI 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 actions, corporates engaged in open R&D (innovation seekers) can identify potential solution-providers with specialized expertise, often beyond the reach of traditional crowdsourcing methods (𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 open calls). Turning to the knowledge-sharing (by innovation providers) … kudos to Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy for backing KNOWLEDGE SHARE -Where Innovation Happens, a platform aggregating and showcasing almost all patents, discoveries, startups and spin-off companies emerging from 🇮🇹 Italian public research. Remarkable effort by Shiva Loccisano, Tech Transfer Expert and the whole team (+ Erre Quadro)! 👏🏻 KNOWLEDGE SHARE -Where Innovation Happens is a joint venture involving Associazione Netval, UIBMS and Politecnico di Torino. Thanks to Nicoletta Amodio Fondazione Mai Confindustria, and nicola michelon massimo barbin Confindustria Veneto Est for hosting the presentation event yesterday in Padova. Looking forward to see this best practice embracing further international TTO inputs and implementing #OIwall for even more effective 𝐊 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 for the sake of 🇪🇺 #EUResearch and global businesses! #shapingthefuture #openinnovation #innovationmanagement #absorptivecapacity #boundaryspanning #innovationscouting #IPvalorisation #techtransfer #infinitearea
