Today our President, Dr Paul GARASSUS, and our Secretary General, Ms Ilaria Giannico attend the annual #Health Forum organised by Business at OECD (BIAC) in Paris. This year’s edition aims at assessing the current situation of health and the #private sector, identifying main priorities, opportunities and challenges, as well as exploring a cross-cutting agenda for further action at the private sector level together with the #OECD. We are proud to be active members of Business at OECD (BIAC) and to help shape policies in the #healthcare sector. #uehp #privatehospitals #hospitals #EU #health #care #patients

Today, we celebrate World Health Day. The theme for World Health Day 2024 is 'My health, my right’. It is a reminder that not everyone has access to basis healthcare services and that it should be considered as a basic human right. The WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All has found that at least 140 countries recognise health as a human right in their constitution. Yet countries are not passing and putting into practice laws to ensure their populations are entitled to access health services. At least 4.5 billion people — more than half of the world’s population — were not fully covered by essential health services in 2021. #worldhealthday #healthcare #healthcareaccess #humanrights #innovationforgood

With an estimated shortage of 10 million health workers by 2030 or more, there is a continued need to invest in a resilient global health workforce to meet the right to #Health4All. Tune into this World Health Organization event tomorrow morning "Realizing the right to health in a world in turmoil" to learn more about the challenges and solutions for health care delivery for everyone, everywhere 👇 https://lnkd.in/dTWppBPp

This Canadian report on the performance of universal health care countries makes grim reading for New Zealand. We rank first in terms of how much we spend on healthcare (as a % of GDP). But we don't get great health outcomes for that spend. We have the second worst infant mortality (figure 7a). And our "treatable mortality" - deaths from causes that can be mainly avoided through timely and effective health care interventions - (figure 7b) is only a whisker better than the average for OECD countries. Something isn't working in our system....

The U.S. continues to be in a class by itself in the underperformance of its health care sector. While the other nine countries differ in the details of their systems and in their performance on domains, unlike the U.S., they all have found a way to meet their residents’ most basic health care needs, including universal coverage. https://lnkd.in/gm3RV9SQ
