We all want to be seen. Not in the form of likes or followers; that's our trivial mind and ego telling us a story about our worth. To be seen is to be understood, respected and loved. To be seen is to feel like you are belong no matter your situation, and that situation does not devalue you. It's a lesson learned for me these past few days as I have been coaching three totally different individuals within the same senior team. Yes, there is a clear vision and expectation for the business and their individual roles. But each conversation has been and should be unique to that person. No cookie-cutter questions or expectations, open, curious engagement so that the other person in our conversation is able to take away what they need and move forward the way they need. This is critical not only for coaching but leadership. You cannot tell people how they will come on the journey; you have to show it to them and ASK how they would like to come along. Some won't. Some won't get it straight away. Some will dial in. But what's most important is that that individual is seen, heard and respected - that's when trust is realised. That's when the real shit starts to happen. Think about how you lead.
