Key takeaways: 1️⃣ Immense gratitude to all past DICOM Connectathon participants who laid the groundwork for these advancements. 2️⃣ Exciting results from the recent DICOM Connectathon on annotations, advancing both clinical and research applications. 3️⃣ Looking ahead, the upcoming Connectathon will address the entire workflow with DICOM and IHE PaLM DPIA, setting the stage for more comprehensive interoperability. 4️⃣ Introduction of the Global Pathology Interoperability Alliance (GoPIA), which takes a holistic view of interoperability. Connectathons will be entry points, with in-person showcases planned for ECDP, Pathology Visions, and ASDP meetings in 2025. 5️⃣ A call for end users to actively request DICOM, DPIA, and other standards-based interoperability as essential to their digital pathology journey. 6️⃣ A parallel call to industry to join the upcoming and future Connectathons and contribute to shaping the future of interoperability, by expanding DICOM, DPIA and other standards-based interoperability products that meet these end-user demands, creating a seamless digital pathology ecosystem.
