Last week EWE Neue Energien participated in the largest wind energy conference in the Baltics – Windworks. It was important to meet relevant stakeholders of the industry and also share our insights, where the industry in the Baltics will move forward. Our Country manager in Latvia Artūrs Toms Plešs participated together with Anders Widman, Head of Nordic and Baltics and Nicolai Kyhn Bak Jørgensen, graduate at Eurowind Energy. Estonian renewable energy company Enefit Green has partnered with Polish developer Res Global Investment to drive the green energy transition in Poland. According to the signed agreement, Enefit Green will acquire 100% of the development rights in multiple early-stage onshore wind projects with a targeted total capacity of up to 360 MW. By investing in floating offshore wind, Norway not only strengthens its energy portfolio but also plays a pivotal role in the global energy transition, positioning itself as a leader in the renewable energy sector. Floating offshore wind, in particular, could unlock a tremendous renewable energy potential on a global scale by tapping into stronger wind resources further from shore. The International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates that the potential could be more than 10 times the world’s current electricity demand. Floating wind technology could truly be a game-changer for the global energy landscape. The plan offers up to 10 GW of new wind energy capacity, enough to power 3 million Danish homes. The first subarea, featuring three wind sites (A1-A3), is now open for bids, with a deadline set for 5 December 2024. This makes it one of the largest offshore wind tenders in the world, with turbines expected to be operational by 2030, significantly boosting Denmark’s green energy transition.
