The video shows inclusions or foreign particles inside a prismatic cell. In this case, these particles are copper, potentially from the slitting process of the cathode. In our latest newsletter, Circad Design Limited announces another success story. We are proud of the successful commercialisation of a groundbreaking real-time organophosphate detector by our partner, Cabin Air Sensor Solutions (CASS). Our collaboration with CASS since 2016 underscores our dedication to advancing cutting-edge electronics design and manufacturing. Until now, it has not been possible to detect these poisonous compounds to establish and prove their presence. This is of particular importance for detecting in real-time, individual poisonous compounds that can be present in an aircraft cabin. The cabin air in most passenger jets is supplied from the compression section of the engine in a process known as “bleed air”. If seals inside the engine leak, it is believed that heated oil fumes can enter the air supply, contaminating it with chemicals that experts believe cause serious health problems. The CASS ‘Canary’ has been proven in testing and verification for accuracy, robustness and flexibility of operation within the aircraft cabin in actual flight and using aircraft cabin test facilities. CASS is now inviting airlines to participate in their Global In-Flight Aircraft Cabin Air Audit. A collective die-to-wafer (CoD2W) assembly process is demonstrated enabling low-loss die-to-wafer evanescent optical coupling, paving the way to future wafer-level optically interconnected multi-XPU compute systems. As a proof-of-concept demonstrator, PIC chiplets and an optical interconnect wafer were co-designed and fabricated, each having embedded SiN waveguides (WG) and evanescent couplers (EVC). Frontside and backside alignment structures were included to enable accurate alignment of the PIC dies to the interconnect wafer. Before assembly, the PIC dies were thinned to 100 μm and subsequently transferred from a temporary carrier to the target interconnect wafer. After the full process, we realized an assembly yield of up to 96% of mostly void-free dies with die-to-target wafer alignment of 2.4 μm (m+3s), resulting in die-to-wafer optical coupling losses below 0.5 dB at 1310 nm for 76% of the dies. https://lnkd.in/eEcwRhDW
