The concept of the third place is not new but the vocabulary to explain it is. As our society marches into the future we are becoming more isolated to just our workplace and home. Sometimes, those are the same place thanks to technology. Having a third place to interact with others in the community is not only a good idea, it is ESSENTIAL. #thethirdplace #MyThirdPlace #community #communitybuilding
We all need a #thirdplace - somewhere other than home (first place or work (second place). They are essential for our wellbeing and sense of belonging. Let's cherish and preserve these spaces for socializing and connecting with others. I hope you will support MyThirdPlace as we strive to bring communities back together. #community #mentalhealth #belonging

There was a 43% reduction in spending on youth and community services between 2014 and 2021. Community hubs closed. E.g. 1,243 council-run youth centres across England and Wales were closed between 2010-23. So it's great to see a counter to this trend with the Brooklands Community Centre breaking ground to be a catalyst for community cohesion over the coming years ✨ Well done to everyone who's helped to get it to this stage https://lnkd.in/eMGr-Qb8
Thursday morning saw the groundbreaking ceremony at Brooklands Park Community Centre in Stoke Gifford, Bristol. Development leaders SNG and Crest Nicholson as well as members of the local parish council and South Gloucestershire Council joined us to mark the event. This is an opportunity to work with both home developer Crest Nicholson and South Gloucestershire Council to provide this new residential community with a community facility managed by the parish council. Community centres play a crucial role in fostering social cohesion, wellbeing, and engagement within neighbourhoods and we are committed to delivering this for future customers at Brooklands Park. Let's chat about each of the seven dimensions of well-being 🌱 We'll start with cultural well-being. Local park and recreation agencies have the power to foster growth, learning, and belonging through... 🌱Community events and celebrations 🌱Visual and performing arts 🌱Cultural relevancy and humility When culturally relevant spaces, programs and services are provided, community members, including staff, develop a sense of belonging, inclusion and appreciation. They embrace, celebrate and value the identities, traditions and experiences of others. This also creates a practice of cultural humility, a dynamic and lifelong process focusing on self-reflection, personal critique and acknowledging one's own biases. Park and recreation professionals, every day, support community health and well-being across seven interconnected dimensions. Follow along as we dive into each of these dimensions in the weeks to come. Is Your Community Truly Inclusive? 🌿 Building a community is powerful, it's where we find connection, shared passions, and cultural alignment. But as community builders, we often label our spaces "inclusive" without fully living up to it. WoeMan Outdoors is on a journey to redefine what inclusivity truly means for us. Yes, we’ve called ourselves an inclusive community, but simply stating it doesn’t make it so 🌱 A moment of reflection made it clear that our community, as vibrant as it is, was primarily accessible to those who already had the means, transport, money, time, and equipment. This gap in accessibility struck me hard 💡 True inclusivity goes beyond words; it means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, can participate and thrive. That’s why WoeMan Outdoors is committed to creating opportunities for those without the resources to experience the joy and healing of nature 🧠 Now, we’re actively working to expand our reach and make outdoor spaces a place for everyone. 🛤️ Help Us Grow This Mission: If you’re connected to communities, authorities, or individuals who share this vision or can offer insights, I’d love to connect. Let’s build a network that lowers barriers and makes the outdoors accessible for all. #Community #Nature #Outdoors #Accessibility

🪘Building Bridges Through Community Engagement 🪘 My firm 22StarvingArtist partnership with the Muskegon Police Department reminded me of the incredible power of community connection. As I watched children and officers unite in rhythm, it became clear: collaboration fosters trust and strengthens relationships. These events highlight a key aspect of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Here’s why engaging with local communities is essential for businesses: Trust Building: Participating in community events helps break down barriers and builds trust between organizations and the neighborhoods they serve.Positive Branding: Companies that actively engage with their communities demonstrate their commitment to social responsibility, enhancing their reputation.Employee Morale: Involvement in community initiatives can boost employee morale and pride, creating a more engaged workforce.Innovation through Collaboration: Working with local entities can lead to innovative ideas and solutions that benefit everyone involved.Let’s invest in our communities, just as we invest in our businesses. Together, we can create harmonious spaces where everyone thrives.#CommunityEngagement #CorporateResponsibility #Muskegon #Unity #BuildingBridges

How can green spaces bring people together? Having access to green spaces can offer many opportunities for connection and socialisation. This can be through spending time with friends and families 👨👩👦 at a summer picnic; helping children 🧒 learn how to make new friends and play; or meeting new people 👋 at outdoor park events. Green spaces can improve community cohesion by allowing different social groups to interact, bond and grow attached to their local parks 🍃 These spaces are free and welcome to all, making them inclusive and accessible which reduces obstacles to socialising for vulnerable groups of people (e.g. disabled people, ethnic minorities, the youth and elderly, and those with financial difficulties). We must value our green spaces and parks to encourage community engagement and ensure that there are available and welcoming spaces for everyone 💚 (Design created by Sara Lopez)
