The question of whether it's better to be a first mover or a last mover in AI development is complex and depends on various factors. Given the punctuated equilibrium nature of AI progress, there are advantages and risks to both approaches. First Mover Advantages: 1. Market leadership: Early adopters can establish themselves as industry leaders, gaining brand recognition and customer loyalty. 2. Learning opportunities: First movers gain valuable insights and experience, allowing them to refine their strategies and develop best practices. 3. Talent attraction: Being at the forefront of AI development can attract top talent and AI experts. 4. Regulatory influence: Early adopters may have a say in shaping industry regulations and standards. Last Mover Advantages: 1. Risk mitigation: Late adopters can learn from the mistakes and successes of their predecessors, reducing costly missteps. 2. Mature technology: Waiting allows companies to adopt more stable and affordable AI solutions. 3. Proven use cases: Late adopters benefit from established applications and can choose solutions that align with specific business needs. 4. Cost efficiency: AI technology tends to become more affordable as it matures. Considering the rapid pace of AI development and the potential for sudden breakthroughs, a balanced approach might be most effective: 1. Strategic early adoption: Companies should carefully evaluate areas where early AI adoption can provide a significant competitive advantage. This allows them to gain experience and establish a foothold in the market. 2. Continuous monitoring and adaptation: Given the punctuated equilibrium nature of AI progress, organizations should stay informed about new developments and be prepared to quickly adapt their strategies. 3. Focused innovation: Rather than trying to be first in every aspect of AI, companies can focus on innovating in specific areas that align with their core competencies and business goals. 4. Collaboration and partnerships: Engaging in partnerships with AI research institutions or tech companies can help organizations stay at the forefront of AI development without bearing all the risks and costs of being a first mover. 5. Agile implementation: Develop a flexible AI strategy that allows for rapid adoption of new technologies as they emerge, balancing the benefits of early adoption with the reduced risks of waiting for more mature solutions. In conclusion, the optimal approach likely involves a combination of strategic early adoption in key areas and careful monitoring of AI developments to capitalize on emerging opportunities. This balanced strategy can help organizations benefit from first-mover advantages in critical domains while mitigating risks associated with rapid technological change.

My frameworks are my secret weapon in tech. AI is deeply integrated into my daily routine, I leverage the vault of knowledge and experiences I've accumulated over the years—which is a fundamental part of how I operate. The true power lies in using structured frameworks to transform this knowledge into actionable prompts. When I use AI, I don't simply ask for general feedback or tips and advice. I provide detailed context. For instance, in the role of an Agile product manager, I outline our roadmap, deliverables, risks, and dependencies in order to guide AI in crafting precise strategies. This structured approach changes things entirely, making AI a true partner in my work. Knowing how and what to ask in the prompt is critical, and does not remove the experience required in how the AI response gets applied. You need skin in the game, otherwise AI hypnosis will give anyone false confidence and put you in a hot seat in no time. You'll need to be able to connect dots. Always remember: AI isn't here to replace you, but the people using AI will. By leveraging its power and diving into different strategies and frameworks, I've spotted patterns and cadences that enhance its effectiveness. The bottom line focus is navigating how all this gets applied in a real-world scenario. This structured thinking allows me to present my best self, ensuring every move is calculated and impactful. Over the years, I've built my own methods to navigate the tech landscape. These personal frameworks account for everything in my field, from agile methodologies to technology blueprints. They enable me to reduce operational complexities and boost efficiency, a necessity for any tech consultant aiming to stay ahead. Have you crafted your own frameworks? How have they transformed your work? #Technology #Innovation #AI

When will my AI project pay off? Will it? You’ve deployed the model, but the results are nowhere to be seen. You’re not alone. AI has incredible potential to deliver value for your business—there’s no denying that. But where many leaders struggle is figuring out the ROI. Unlike traditional projects, AI doesn’t give you immediate returns. If you’ve built your model, deployed it, and are still waiting for results, you might be asking yourself, “How long before we see ROI?” Some common frustrations I hear from senior leaders include: ➡️ We’ve invested so much, but where are the gains? ➡️ How long do we keep pouring resources into this? ➡️ Why isn’t the AI delivering the results it promised? The myth & sometimes the expectation is that AI will start delivering returns instantly—but that’s rarely the case. ROI from AI projects isn’t instant—it’s a journey that typically goes through three phases. 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲: At this stage, AI is in learning mode. It takes time, effort, and resources to understand patterns and data. Essentially, it’s absorbing more than it gives back. 📉 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲: This is when you start to see a return. AI gets smarter, and as it handles more real-time data, you’ll notice things balancing out. ROI is finally beginning to show, but it’s still early days. ⚖️ 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗲: This is where all the effort pays off. The data and resources you’ve invested now start compounding. You’ll feel the real benefits, as AI drives performance and propels your organisation forward. 🚀 If you want better returns, then actively lay the foundation, lead and support AI project to get into Value Creation Zone. If your AI project feels stuck in the early phase, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Let’s chat about how to move through these stages and unlock AI’s full potential for your business. #AIforBusiness #AIandROI #BusinessTransformation
