US SOF neither recruits, knows how to manage, or properly employ such an array of available capabilities. Instead, risk adverse PME and thinking grooms SOF leaders to default to training for the perfect raid. Leaders focused on the perfect raid will never inspire the writing of "The Moon is Down" or advocate for such attacks in the cognitive space. US SOF needs to focus on the uncomfortable and not rest on the laurels of high profile raids that were stunning tactical successes with no lasting strategic effect

Interesting how the horses will unfold by how people before them sets the stage! It is the same way with children. What makes a trail horse? Authoritarianism. What makes a cutting horse? Enlightenment! Why are we seeing more people unfold into trail horses than cutting horses? The lone horse, the mass shooter, the assassin, what triggered that horse? Nothing can be understood independently of the environment, why does schools look like factories and prisons? To get a trail horse, you must mortify the horse into spiritual death! Do we need more trail horses? Or do we need imagination and curiosity and an ability to improv! Sanctification, what does that horse look like?

[The attached picture is of half-armor used in Germany in the 16th century.] Imagine with me for a moment, that a soldier commissioned a well-known armorer to build him the best armor money could buy. He paid a healthy sum. It was to be delivered to the battlefield. When the day approached, it was delivered and it was indeed the best armor money could buy. There was, oddly, also a money bag with it and a note. Half of the money he had paid was returned and the note said this: “I ran out of metal and so I was only able to build you armor for half of your body. The armor for the other side will arrive in two weeks and I will build it then.” So the man went into battle with armor only on his left side (which covered his heart). The blows he took against that armor did minimal damage, it was so well built. Now the enemy was crafty and cunning, and he wisely focused his attack on this man's left side, where he did not have his armor on. His attacks were successful and they wounded the man -- the blows he took on the right side were brutal and set him back in his ability to fight. He ended up in the sick ward with many wounds, awaiting treatment. I have seen this play out in my own life and in the lives of those I love, my family and friends. We all know, not all attacks are physical and not all wounds are bleeding ones. Half-armored fighting in life is always painful! The difference from the physical story at the beginning and our life-battles is this: When we fight life-battles, we have access to spiritual armor for our whole body. But many times, we, out of pride, only put on half of our armor. Maybe this is because we are in a hurry or so we can do some of the fighting in our own strength.  We might want to rely on his own life muscles, thinking we are strong enough on our own. Do I fight my battles with only half of my armor on?  Will I put on the FULL ARMOR of God (Eph. 6:10-18) to enter life each day with a fighting chance to win?
