Happy anniversary to The Climate Pledge!! 🎉 Five years ago, Amazon and Global Optimism launched The Climate Pledge to accelerate climate action—and now, with 525+ signatories on board, the momentum is undeniable. The time for action is here. #TheClimatePledge’s 525+signatories are making real progress towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2040. Once this group reaches net-zero carbon, BRODIE conservatively estimates that the GHGs avoided would equate to more than 2.5 metric gigatons of CO2e annually. I'm so honored to be a part of this highly ambitious community. Learn more about how we’re making it happen: https://bit.ly/47wycL8 👈

SBTi Challenges Amazon's Push for Carbon Credits: A Debate Over Corporate Climate Strategies - Amazon, a major player in global commerce, has been pushing for more lenient standards regarding carbon offsets. The Bezos Earth Fund, directed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and one of SBTi’s largest funders, reportedly held meetings in London earlier this year, applying pressure on SBTi representatives to reconsider their stance on carbon offsets. These efforts aimed to persuade SBTi to allow carbon offsets as a legitimate pathway for meeting supply-chain climate targets. However, Amazon was removed from the UN-backed SBTi late last year for failing to set adequate net-zero targets in line with SBTi’s criteria. Amazon's strategy to influence global climate standards has drawn criticism for prioritizing corporate interests over environmental science. By depending on unbundled Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and other contentious techniques, Amazon has been accused of hiding the real climate effect of its operations, in contrast to Apple, which seeks to shift its supply chain to renewable energy at scale. Actually UNDP Climate.. Brazil's Amazon states are indeed at the forefront of global climate action, pioneering a transformative approach that prioritizes indigenous leadership and forest preservation. By recognizing the intrinsic value of indigenous knowledge and rights, these states are empowering native communities to take charge of their lands and destinies. This shift towards indigenous-led conservation and sustainable development is not only crucial for protecting the Amazon's precious biodiversity but also for addressing the climate crisis. Through innovative initiatives like carbon finance and reforestation efforts, the Amazon states are showcasing a model of climate action that prioritizes justice, equity, and community-led solutions. As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, Brazil's Amazon states are illuminating a path forward, one that honors the sacred relationship between #people, #forest, and #planet. How often have you heard people say "we need a price on carbon emissions"? Well, that's because we do. A year ago we decided that our widely recognized climate label should become a symbol for product and service companies that voluntarily price their carbon emissions. We kicked off an in-depth process that would do this and align with rapid changes we're seeing across regulation, carbon markets, consumer values, and sustainability strategy. Stakeholder input has been critical to this initiative, and we're now nearing the end of the window for you to share input on our public survey. Do it now, before June 14! Take a minute (actually, ten) to chime in: changeclimate.org/2025 Why bother? Because the climate movement needs more companies to put real money into the transition. And because ... you guessed it ... we need a price on carbon emissions.

The Amazon is battling record early-year fires. It’s fuelling fears of a worse climate crisis to come as blazes kill vegetation that is key to absorbing planet-warming carbon dioxide. Researchers say climate change increases the likelihood of events such as droughts or floods. At the same time, large swathes of forest are vanishing to deforestation and fire, making it less resilient. Some scientists fear this combination may push the forest to a tipping point of no return. Instead of absorbing planet-heating carbon, the forest would die out, becoming a net carbon emitter and accelerating climate change - a shift already detected in some areas. This Earth Day, we’re celebrating those who move from talk to action. Because we understand the urgency to move from climate promises to real, measurable progress. To do so, we must both drastically reduce emissions as well as remove unavoidable CO₂ emissions from the air. That’s where we can help, by providing high-quality carbon removal solutions for companies to make good on their climate commitments. By partnering with us, you’ll join climate leaders such as Microsoft, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and JPMorgan Chase & Co. in delivering climate impact that’s permanent, verified, and additional.
