Building a World-Class GCC: Start with a Talent-First Mindset! When setting up a Global Capability Center (GCC), your first and most critical step is investing in talent. Here’s how you lay the foundation for success: 1. Hire A-Players: Attract top-tier talent that raises the bar, not just meets it. 2. Create a Great Work Environment: An inspiring, inclusive, and innovative space where people love to work. 3. Energize, Empower, Educate, and Excite: Equip your teams with the tools, autonomy, and opportunities to thrive. 4. Focus on Outcomes: Align everyone to a shared vision of creating impactful results and delivering value. 5. Offer Competitive Total Rewards: Compensation that motivates and benefits that show you value your people. Talent isn’t just part of the equation—it is the equation. A GCC built on this foundation doesn’t just support your global goals; it transforms them. Are you ready to build a GCC that stands out? Nilesh Thakker I believe outputs are equally important along with the outcomes. With a pyramid structure in most GCCs, the services at bottom focus more on the clearly defined and measured outputs that lead to an outcome at the top.

Nilesh Thakker - myPoV is that the operating intent of the enterprise while creating the GCC will determine the type of talent to be onboarded. For instance, if the intent is to create a pure play out tasking shop and cost-containment, putting together an A-team may actually be counterproductive. At the same time, if the intent is to craft a shop that will influence the parent enterprise viz. challenging status-quo and the legacy culture, anything other than an A-team won’t deliver the expected outcomes! having worked with mulitple GCCs in setting up their engineering PODs rapidly -one of the key things that most GCCs misses is the understanding of Talent cohorts suited for them. All of them treat Indian Talent pool as one - which is where they mostly go wrong -its diverse and difficult. Talent Attraction is key and within that how do you build an efficient operational process to ensure that candidate experience is not thwarted. Outcome is key but before focusing on outcomes whether your bases are right or not needs to be checked.
