I have been making web and digital experiences since 1998. I worked in a leading global digital agency before the dot com crash in 1999. I have seen so much happen in digital business in the last 25+ years. I like open innovation. It is an amazing idea. But open innovation is stuck. There are no large companies, there are no real armies of dedicated consultants, there is no community. It is because open innovation is in its core a digital change but did not embrace the rules of the digital world. There are only few local platforms which seem to be designed by and for academics and consultants, not digital natives. Open innovation also did not penetrate small and medium businesses. If it remains in the realm of multinationals then it will not grow. Multinationals can quickly adopt any new trend if it makes them look good, and as quickly throw it away. They do not commit. For open innovation to succeed, for it to become a global standard of doing business, of innovating, it must follow these simple digital rules. Open innovation must copy what already worked. We solved this in our company: 🖐 www.openos.me ✍ www.openinnovation.me #openinnovation #innovation

The New Digital Experience Policy – A Game Changer Beyond Government! The Australian Government’s new Digital Experience Policy carries a powerful message: this isn't just about improving government services, it's setting a benchmark for digital experiences across all sectors. Speaking locally, for Tasmanian businesses and organisations, this is an opportunity to step up digital services, especially with Tasmania’s digital inclusion rate trailing behind the national average. By embracing these standards, industries—from tourism to retail—can improve accessibility, break down digital barriers, and deliver smoother, more user-friendly experiences. For Tasmanians, particularly those in regional areas, this could mean better access to essential services. It also opens the door for greater digital innovation and infrastructure, helping local businesses thrive, speeding up service delivery, and boosting access to critical resources. This is a major leap towards a more connected and inclusive digital future for Australia, and an opportunity for Tasmanian businesses (and government) to improve our digital literacy and inclusion. I’m currently in the process of understanding the full scope of the policy and would love to exchange thoughts and ideas. Feel free to reach out for a chat. https://lnkd.in/gXYg4MHy

Are small businesses important? Should they innovate? A resounding YES! Here are some references to support it. Job Creation: In most countries, small businesses account for a significant share of job creation. Over the past decade, they contributed 55% of net total jobs in the U.S. Source: https://buff.ly/44sJoqr . Economic Growth and Innovation: Small enterprises drive economic growth through innovation, supported by programs like the Small Business Innovation Research initiative, which provides funding to advance technology. Source: Tradeology, ITA Blog. Promoting Diversity and Inclusion: Small businesses play a key role in fostering diversity by supporting underrepresented communities. Source: U.S. Small Business Administration. Resilience and Adaptability: Their ability to respond quickly to market changes makes small businesses essential during economic disruptions. Source: U.S. Small Business Administration. Personally, I see small businesses as a powerful innovation distribution agent for any forward thinking nation. All the experience needed to run and succeed in a startup also applies to a small business owner who want to succeed and stay ahead of competition. And one of it is to never stop innovation and improving the product/service/offering for your users. You should be invested in providing the best experiences to them through design, branding, and building your brand's digital assets. This is very reason we created a tool: BiznesXpo (https://buff.ly/4frrgl4 ) , an all-in-one platform to help solopreneurs and small businesses to digitally transform their businesses. We'll be live in a few weeks, follow me or follow BiznesXpo page (BiznesXpo) to stay updated on this. And if you need to create digital experiences on web, mobile, games, or immersive experiences, you should reach out to me in the dm. We can help you bring your imaginations to life. And help you create experiences that will elevate your user's engagements with your brand. I'm looking to connect with innovators using design and technology to build amazing digital experiences for people especially for emerging markets like Africa. Let's connect! Don't settle. Keep tweaking. Bode Chris, DesignTechPreneur

📚 New #FreeAccess (50 days) Publication in Technovation Nebojsa Stojcic, Marina Dabić & Sascha Kraus (2024) Customisation and co-creation revisited: Do user types and engagement strategies matter for product innovation success? Link: https://lnkd.in/e8HqZM9y Highlights: ➡️ We explore the impact of user types and engagement strategies on product innovation. ➡️ Customisation and co-creation facilitate product innovation development. ➡️ Users matter for execution, marketing and commercialisation of innovations. ➡️ Households, firms and public entities play distinct roles in the innovation process. Abstract: User engagement is widely recognised as beneficial for the innovation efforts of firms scarce with internal resources but our knowledge about the relevance of user types and engagement strategies is scarce and mostly limited to the front-end phases of the innovation process. To fill this gap, we use data from over 10,000 companies operating in four emerging innovation ecosystems in Central Europe and examine the contribution of users to product development, distribution, market positioning and the commercialisation of innovations. The results show that user engagement through customisation and co-creation promotes the success of the innovation process, with the impact of co-creation being much stronger. Consumers, intermediary users (businesses) and public sector users play different roles at different stages of innovation. These findings provide important insights for firms seeking to optimise their user engagement strategies in product innovation management.
