HOW WILL THE LAST TEN YEARS OF YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE? This health awareness video released by the Canadian government in 2018 gives a stark and graphic perspective of how exercise can impact one's quality of life in a decade. Better medical science has improved longer lifespans for most. However, many may not enjoy better quality of life in their last decade, some facing chronic illness while others deal with mental decline and deteriorating immobility. With many countries facing ageing populations with low birth rates, it becomes increasingly urgent for seniors to be physically and mentally engaged to enjoy their silver ages. The primary driver of quality of life lies in whether one exercises or not. And this is not just a national problem, its a global one. A better quality of life tomorrow won't be there if you don't start today. Get active and mobile before you become inactive and immobile.

This last election has caused me to reflect on my news consumption. It's gotten a bit toxic. I've been a news junkie all my life and I don't think that's going to change – I'm curious about the world. But my modes of consuming news have started to worry me. I will keep a tab open to the NYT or WaPo or La Nación, and after a taxing call I will go over there to relax (excepting it isn't relaxing,) or if I've finished a task that I don't enjoy, I will go over there to reward myself (except it isn't a reward.) What's left after these visits is cognitive residue, gusts of emotion that color and interfere with my work day. The news has gotten a lot more like social media – we click into a scroll holes and a bit of our soul gets sucked in. My current solution, which I am trying to abide by, is constraining my consumption to certain windows during the day. What is your solution? Is it even a problem for you?

Today, as we cast our votes on issues that impact the health of our nation—physically, financially, and beyond—I’m reminded that true change starts at home. Yes, the choices we make in the voting booth are important. But the choices we make for ourselves, every single day, are equally powerful. When we prioritize our own health—mind, body, and spirit—we set an example, strengthen our communities, and contribute to a healthier world. And that means: ↠ Caring for your body with nourishing foods and movement that energizes you ↠ Managing stress and carving out moments for calm and connection with God ↠ Building healthy habits that sustain you in your busy life and encourage others to do the same These small, personal choices are the foundation of our collective well-being. They affect what we believe, how we think, how we feel, and the actions we take. Regardless of how you vote today, ask yourself: What can I do for my whole health—and the whole health of others? It’s all connected. The strength, resilience, and well-being we build in our own lives ripple out, impacting everyone around us. Let’s keep showing up for ourselves and each other. Because the health of our communities, our families, and our future starts with the choices we make right now.
