Are you showcasing the right skills in your biotech job search? As a recruiter, I often see candidates focus heavily on their technical skills - which are absolutely crucial in biotech - but overlook the soft skills that are just as important to employers. It can be difficult to demonstrate things like communication, teamwork, and adaptability on a CV, but these are often the deciding factors in interviews. Here’s how you can better showcase your soft skills: 1️⃣ Use Examples: When describing your experience, include situations where soft skills played a key role. For example, highlight a time you resolved a conflict, led a team, or communicated complex ideas to non-experts. 2️⃣ Tailor to the Role: Look at the job description and pick out the soft skills mentioned. Be sure to demonstrate how you’ve used those skills in your previous roles. 3️⃣ Let Your CV Reflect You: The way your CV is structured - clear, concise, and focused - can itself be a reflection of your communication skills. Keep it professional, but make sure it feels like you. What’s one soft skill you’ve found crucial in your career growth? 💡 #RecruitmentTips #BiotechCareers #JobSearchAdvice #SoftSkills

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 We talk a lot about experience and qualifications in job ads. But let me tell you a secret: soft skills are just as critical. Why? Because technical skills can be taught. But a positive attitude, good communication, and adaptability? Those are priceless. I’ve seen candidates with average resumes get hired because they showed emotional intelligence and problem-solving during interviews. And I’ve seen technically brilliant candidates lose opportunities because they lacked teamwork and humility. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about showing you can work well with others and keep growing. So, next time you apply for a role, highlight your soft skills too. They might be the edge you need.

I've made it to the final stage of the interview process! Now what?? ⬇️ 1. Prepare for behavioural questions: use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Focus on examples that demonstrate your ability to handle challenges relevant to the role. 2. Showcase your soft skills: at this stage, employers are evaluating how well you fit into the company culture. Highlight your communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills. Provide examples of how you've effectively collaborated or adapted in previous roles. 3. Visualise your role: picture yourself in the role and explain how you would contribute from day one. 🤐 Step 3 of Placement Series !!! 🤠 Understanding What Recruiters Look For 👩💻 During my first placement interview, I thought it was all about technical skills. But I quickly realized that recruiters are looking for more than just someone who can code or solve problems. I remember one interviewer asking me about a time I faced failure and how I dealt with it. That’s when I understood—they’re looking for the whole package: skills, attitude, and adaptability. Let’s dive into what really matters to recruiters. 1. Technical Competence : Yes, recruiters want to see your technical skills, but they also want to know how you apply them in real-world scenarios. 2. Problem-Solving Abilities : Recruiters value candidates who can think critically and solve problems efficiently, even under pressure. 3. Cultural Fit : How well you align with the company’s values and work culture is crucial. Be prepared to discuss your personal values and how they match the company’s ethos. 4. Soft Skills : Communication, teamwork, and leadership are just as important as technical skills. Highlight these in your resume and interviews. 5. Adaptability and Learning : Companies want candidates who can adapt to new challenges and learn continuously. Showcase your willingness and ability to grow. P.S. 🔑 Questions: What kind of problems do you like to solve? What do other people tell you you are good at? What kind of work makes you feel effortless and alive? Answer: How to begin identifying transferable skills. From here, you can start formulating which skills you should highlight on your resume and in job interviews during your job search: ➡️ First, make sure you tailor to the job description, in other words, prioritize adding those transferable skills that are also on the job posting. ➡️ Next, in your experience section highlight/illustrate an impact or result with these skills. ➡️ Finally, consider a skills section on your resume where you can add specific job related skills AND your top transferable skills. 🎯 Employers love seeing a varied skill set and as a potential employee, it is up to you to show them. :) #jobsearch #transferableskills #resume
