A fantastic day earlier this week at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) Annual Conference. I had the pleasure of joining a panel session: ‘The great debate - big plays that will transform our workforce’. Boosting productivity and skills are top of mind for most businesses - tech can help us to deliver on both. My top learning for transformation is to start by getting your data in good shape, choosing the best focused AI models and treating everything as an AI use case. At IBM, we are leveraging our technology, consulting expertise and strategic partnership technologies to reimagine ways of working to drive productivity. We are client zero for AI use cases across the back office, customer services and code/app modernisation. These use cases are consistent across many clients and are delivering rapid productivity gains. One of our own examples is how we have transformed our internal HR service, powered by watsonx, saving 12,000 hours in the last 18 months and enabling HR professionals to focus on high value activities such as talent acquisition, career development and supporting managers. AI is also serving as an inspirational companion in the creative process with our IBM AI Consulting Advantage AI platform already helping our teams save time on research and other tasks, creating value for clients. Building skills for the future means bringing people with us on the tech journey, at scale. Through #IBMSkillsbuid, we have committed to train 2 million people in AI by the end of 2026 to help close the global AI skills gap and 30m in digital skills by 2030. Thank you to Naomi Weir for chairing and Alan Brookes, Tunde Olanrewaju and Alastair Paton for sharing what their businesses are doing to drive productivity and help people build new skills across a range of different industries.
