Platforms outsource content moderation to fact-checking groups so they can flag #disinformation likely promoted by their recommender algorithms. 🪵 This feels akin to a logging company symbolically planting a sapling after felling 100 trees. 🤝 So what's the relationship like between platforms and fact-checking groups? And is legislation like the EU #DigitalServicesAct, which aims to increase transparency around these algorithms, muscular enough? I had fun discussing these issues and more recently with Vincent Couronne from Les Surligneurs and the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN). 🎧 Have a listen https://lnkd.in/dicQX-2v

The Facing Facts #DSAWebinar ’s Q&A discussion addressed questions directly submitted by webinar participants. Swipe through to read the answer to these questions below 👇 ➡ Are there any specific legal measures in place to address hate content within live-stream formats, such as those on TikTok and Twitch, which seem much harder to monitor, document, and regulate compared to other online content? ➡ Does the DSA foresee providing trusted flaggers and monitors with more adequate funding for their activities? Additionally, are VLOPSES required to disclose staff numbers or work hour estimates for their content moderators, particularly regarding the often AI-based automated content moderation processes used by social media platforms? ➡ What measures can be taken to address the unequal application of DSA standards by VLOPs across different countries within the EU? ➡ Could you clarify the role of Trusted Flaggers and whether the criteria for their selection are standardised across all member states? ➡ Is the new DSA code finalised and publicly available? If not, what is the expected timeframe for its publication and enforcement? ➡ How does the DSA specifically define "#hatespeech," and how does it address more subtle forms of radicalising narratives, such as dog whistles and fear speech? ➡ What is the difference between trusted partners and trusted monitors under the DSA? ➡ Is the European Commission planning any awareness-raising measures? Thank you to our speakers Martina Maiello & Tommaso Chiamparino. Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/eTkmP_JT

After spending the better part of the past 2 days writing, testing & mapping out b-logic strings for expanding content taxonomy 3.0. setup I've realize mid-level and below publishers are going to be forced into data/identity walled garden and/or outsourced tech+OPS partner. The ad tech consolidation that's been going on is shaping up to be impactfully worse than the close funnel media models the major ad agency holding groups attempted 10+ years ago. The system needs balance w/ enough gaps to allow for leapfrogs to still occur. Rest assured the anti-trust lawyers are already itching for a fight. Makes me wish I could break a few NDA's and push more companies towards names building white label infrastructure, allowing for agnostic raw data ingestion, currency parsing via UAT, and an open source data cloud stopping the big guys.... #AdTechFuture #20YearsInAdvertising 🎉
