Reflecting on my day at HMP Isis in London yesterday with the Microsoft team which was facilitated by the Learning & Employment team & No Going Back. It was insightful to spend time with a group of prisoners to understand their journey through the criminal justice system & understand the challenges they face. It was great opportunity to identify how we can use technology to support them. Also great to give a little back with a demonstration of the latest AI advancements! It took me back to my time in policing but held me to understand the challenges faced from a different perspective 🤔 Tom Knight, Matt Bishop, Jack H. Will Hogg #microsoft #powerplatform

In the latest in a series of articles exploring how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used in policing, Chief Philip Lukens looks at the potential benefits that AI solutions can deliver in relation to accreditation and performance – including a master training schedule, an AI-assisted tool to review and update policy, and an automated compliance checker – all of which can save time and resources, increase reliability, and boost trust and confidence. ❝In 2020, the need for police accreditation became more urgent and relevant, as the nation [USA] witnessed a series of protests and calls for police reform following the death of George Floyd and other incidents of police brutality and racial injustice.❞ ❝Data is essential for demonstrating compliance with the accreditation standards, which cover various aspects of police operations, such as use of force, arrest and detention, pursuit, bias-free policing, evidence management, and community engagement.❞ ❝The AI data dashboard also generates data-driven reports and documentation that demonstrate the agency’s compliance with the accreditation standards and performance indicators.❞ ❝An AI solution can foster public trust and confidence in the agency, by demonstrating its commitment to professional excellence, accountability, and transparency.❞ https://lnkd.in/eipfGqpJ 💡Read more articles by Chief Philip Lukens in the series 'Application of AI in policing': https://lnkd.in/e7GgAwNm #lawenforcement #policing #police #artificialintelligence

Imagine an assistant who never tires, is always ready with the right information, and can help de-escalate situations with a calming presence. That’s what our AI is designed to be. It’s not about replacing the human touch that’s so crucial in policing; it’s about enhancing it. Officers can use AI to quickly access vital information, automate routine tasks, and even receive suggestions for handling complex situations, allowing them to spend more time engaging directly with the community.
