𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁: 3X as many in the US strongly support 'natural gas' as 'methane'. They're the same thing. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘄𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. Food for thought as we go into an election in the UK where climate and the environment will be in the spotlight. And a timely reminder for all of us working on inspiring change that getting the words right is a big part of the job. 🤔 ++ P.S. I'm CEO of environmental charity Hubbub. Kia ora tatou, Aotearoa’s environment hubs urgently need your support. Anyone involved in the non-profit sector knows that operational funding is the hardest type of funding to come by. Usually, funders are keener to support projects and outcomes, rather than the stuff we need in order to keep the lights on, like computers, utility bills, salaries for admin and HR staff, and maintenance. Environment hubs across Aotearoa were dealt a heavy blow when Ministry for the Environment funding for hubs up and down the country were cut without notice. That funding went towards vital operational costs for many hubs, which, like EcoMatters, are all places that serve their local communities with environmental education and opportunities to take action. When a budget line like that is struck off the books - especially when it happens without any prior notice, it really is the community that suffers. Collectively, environment hubs have 318 staff and over 213,000 volunteers engaged in 350+ projects across climate action, nature restoration and community resilience. For many hubs, especially for our younger and smaller hubs, it's a threat to their ability to continue to deliver their transformative environmental programmes, or even to their ongoing viability. Environment Hubs Aotearoa urgently needs funds to support our collective operations across Aotearoa, and this month we have set a fundraising goal of $500,000. The funds we raise now will help keep environment hubs across Aotearoa going, while we build new partnerships and pivot. If you can support our EHA whānau and help us get through this next difficult stretch, we would be incredibly grateful. We welcome all donations big and small at https://lnkd.in/g5uCRw9C With your help, we can continue the critical work of regenerating te taiao and supporting our communities in their fight for a sustainable future. If you or your organisation would like to explore supporting EHA as a partner or donor, please send me a direct message and I'll put you in touch with our national coordinator. Ngā mihi for your ongoing support. Carla

Restoration of Forest Ecosystems is equally considered as a nature-based solution to address environmental challenges communities are facing today in Zambia. Healthy ecosystems, such as forests, wetlands, and grassland play a pivotal role in sequestering carbon, mitigating climate change impacts. At Climate Protection Zambia, we thrive to engage interested partners and stakeholders to join us in the efforts to renewing degraded ecosystems, enhancing their resilience and maximizing ecosystem services for community co-benefits.
Climate Protection Zambia (CPZ) is an independent local non-profit organization working to support effective practical actions and sustainable policies for low carbon climate resilient development pathways. We support effective actions, policies and scientific research for low carbon climate resilient development pathways to sustain human and ecosystems resilience in the face of climate change and strengthen an ecologically healthy relationship between nature and communities.

US non-profit Ceres, Inc. has released new guidance to help companies draft credible climate transition plans, which it says is aligned with the UK’s Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) framework. The sustainability advocacy organisation focuses on six action ‘action areas’: setting goals and science-based targets, decarbonising the business, ensuring a just transition, advocating for public policy, supporting integration and accountability, and tracking and reporting progress. It also offers 45 case studies analysing the #ClimateTransitionPlans of large companies, and identifies best practices from several of them, including Ball Corporation and Mars. https://lnkd.in/eVrmDVty #TransitionPlanning #TPTFramework #CSRD #ChiefSustainabilityOfficer

This The Philanthropist Journal article raises a fresh perspective on redefining the norms in corporate funding for philanthropy. Yes, there's criticism for philanthropists tied to funding from oil and gas companies in Alberta, facing a moral dilemma of sorts – "All money is oil money." But, as Kelli Stevens points out, let's shift our focus from the moral debate and see it as a chance to build bridges between different worlds. 🤝 This shift in thinking comes alive through collaborations between philanthropy and corporations. It's not just about money; it's about creating relationships that transcend mere financial support. These partnerships not only provide learning opportunities but also pave the way for positive change, moving away from isolated approaches. They bring together diverse entities – corporations, philanthropy, academics – creating ecosystems that foster learning and emergence. This, in turn, allows for social innovation within corporations and for individual employees looking to make a difference within their organizations. 💬 "You can create change from outside an organization or you can . . . try to create change inside an organization.’’ - Cathy Glover Even as we all struggle to build the next economy and work toward systems change in a post-carbon world, it is important to reflect on those who have leveraged hydrocarbon prosperity to build a better society. Suncor Energy Foundation is an exemplar of trust-based community investment, supporting our students through the Catamount Fellowship to become changemakers and builders of this next world. In an era of "global polycrisis," where no single entity has all the answers, why don't we - businesses, charities, academics - "come together as citizens"? Embracing these collaborative relationships means funding goes beyond financial transactions to be a vehicle for shared learning and collective action in navigating the complexities of the 21st century. Do you agree? https://lnkd.in/eQqwzkX2 #philanthropy #funding #collaboration #socialinnovation #communitylearning #newperspectives
