Antibiotics should never be taken for viral infections or illnesses that will get better on their own anyway - like colds and flu. Taking them in these circumstances will not help relieve the condition, but could potentially make antibiotics less effective down the line when really needed for something serious. One of the toughest moments for Ella was realizing that tiny microbes were taking over her body, and she felt powerless to stop them.
