🚄 **Why Can't Malaysia Do the Same?** 🇲🇾 Recently, I stumbled upon a video on my father's YouTube feed: https://lnkd.in/gpRVXaji that showcased China's incredible infrastructure achievements—boasting the world's largest highway network and some of the most technically challenging bridges ever built. The narrator's words struck me: *"中国的链接带给各地方高速的发展"*—"China's connectivity brings rapid development to every region." This got me thinking, "What about Malaysia? Why couldn't we do the same?" Just a few weeks ago, I traveled up north and was struck by how limited our options are to move between the north and south of Peninsula Malaysia. Our transportation networks lack efficiency and fail to provide the seamless connectivity that would unlock the full potential of all our states. At the heart of this issue lies political willpower. In China, the government’s strategic priorities focus on distributing wealth and development across all provinces, bridging the gap between urban and rural areas. Their centralized governance model allows for the rapid deployment of infrastructure that connects even the most remote regions, fostering growth everywhere. But here in Malaysia, it seems that our political leadership in Putrajaya is more focused on maintaining the status quo, rather than empowering our less developed states. While we certainly have the financial tools—like loans and bonds—to fund large-scale infrastructure projects, the real question is: do we have the political will to ensure that every Malaysian state, from north to south, thrives together? But honestly, it’s tough to tell which one is really "berbaloi". So, as a true developer at heart, why would I spend 5 minutes using a calculator instead of spending several days making an app for it :D What It Does Mana Lagi Berbaloi is a simple web app that helps you compare deals to find the best bang for your buck. It can be also useful for my friends in the F&B industry, like one who owns a coffee shop and is constantly calculating the best prices for bulk coffee beans. Now, with this app, they can just plug in the numbers and instantly know which deal is better. How I Built It Frontend: Interface using Vue.js framework. Nikkei Business' weekly magazine (in Japanese) once again features my research with Mizuno Takayuki (at National Institute of Informatics). https://lnkd.in/gGjFj79E Our project develops the model and algorithms to calculate the beneficiary owners (i.e., the entities that ultimately control or own an interest in the target company) in the global ownership network, to understand and document a new way in which political players obtain structure power in the globalized world (https://lnkd.in/g2Vj_Kbq and https://lnkd.in/ge5mEyep). For Nikkei Business, we calculated NPI and NPF values possessed by the Chinese government over some of the key infrastructure assets in Europe.

Mr. Liu De An, General Manager Taiwan Carbon Asset, was invited to attend The Great Taichung Net Zero New Economy Summit along with Lu Shiow-yen, the Mayor of Taichung City, and Jui-Hua Ting, Deputy Director of TSMC, to achieve a net-zero city on Apr 25, 2024. During the interview, Mr. Liu emphasized the importance of internal carbon pricing and advocated for simultaneous attention to both soft and hard indicators within companies. Soft indicators involve companies setting their own prices for carbon emissions internally, while hard indicators may involve government regulations or international carbon tax systems. He pointed out that both are crucial means of reducing carbon emissions, and companies should prioritize and implement both to achieve more effective carbon reduction goals.

Despite the recent underperformance of the luxury and high-end fashion market in China, the consumption potential and market opportunities in this region are still widely recognized and valued within the industry. The traditional reliance on brand-driven marketing strategies is no longer sufficient to address the current market dynamics. Personally, I believe that the digitalization of the global luxury and high-end retail industry significantly lags behind other sectors.
