It is actually BJP's weakness which marks 70-years of Congress misgovernance Congress ruled us for 70 years and destroyed our country, says BJP. All throughout 70 years of Congress misrule BJP was in opposition and was not able to stop Congress from doing so, proving a very weak opposition. It is the same BJP which is boasting about giving a strong government in the country at present. Only a party proved successful in opposition can look forward to a robust governance under its rule and delivering results for the common good of public. https://lnkd.in/gdnEQrbB

The BJP leverages the historical context of the 1975 Emergency imposed by Congress to criticize the party, emphasizing civil liberties and constitutional rights. This narrative contrasts with Congress’s acknowledgment of past mistakes and its claim that Modi’s administration resembles an “undeclared emergency.” The BJP's focus on the Emergency, involving key figures from the anti-Emergency movement now in the INDIA group, serves as a powerful topic against Congress. Congress repeatedly accuses the RSS of prioritizing Hindutva issues over national concerns. The BJP’s highlighting of the Emergency’s excesses aims to undermine Congress’s historical prestige, while Congress accuses Modi of attempting to "capture" institutions and compares his government to Indira Gandhi’s 1975 administration. Some of my U.S. contacts are so disgusted by U.S. support for genocidal war crimes, ethnic cleansing & collective punishment that they've decided to vote third party or not vote. Now I see these folk - many of whom have had relatives & friends killed courtesy of Uncle Sam - getting lectured by "loyal Democrats". I have very little time for these lectures when they come from Democrats who have shown little or no concern on here about the genocide (the excuses are many & varied - "not a topic for a professional platform", "it's complex", "both sides...."). Yet they seem happy to vent about how folk should vote (it's quite a political & complex issue, no?). (If you have an overwhelming urge to lobby someone, why not contact your elected representatives & the White House about the Israeli government's decision to ban UNRWA.) In contrast, I'm very interested in what *authentically pro Palestinian* advocates think. Of course, there's a range of views from this community so I'm going to be posting a few that I find insightful, even though the implications are quite different. The first is from Elia Ayoub, a Lebanese Palestinian commentator, who's active on BlueSky (I'd recommend this site on this topic). Here's a taste of what he says and as you can imagine, it's provoked a vigorous debate: "...I can’t not see the convo among self-described radicals in the US on whether to vote or not as coming from privilege." He goes on to explain why he, as someone with deep links in both Palestine and Lebanon is going to vote for Harris. It's worth a read if you are minded to vote 3rd party or abstain. Tomorrow I'll post a counter argument. https://lnkd.in/dm2zY_xb (Comments here are disabled for obvious reasons. You can always reshare & comment if you really want to but I'm mainly sharing a range of opinions in case my network missed them. And if you know of authentic pro Palestinian advocates who take a different view, and especially if they don't post so much on LinkedIn, please DM me. I'm only interested in well argued comments which are authentic about the pros & cons of the choices available. Thanks.)
