How do different cultures approach the concept of service? What can we learn from these diverse perspectives to create more meaningful impact? In the Himalayas, we experienced a culture where giving isn't just encouraged—it's expected. As one village host told us, they don't say "thank you" for acts of service because helping others is simply part of being human. This shifts how we think about service from something extra we do to an integral part of daily life. How might your approach to service change if you viewed it this way? Share your thoughts below! As we prepare for our next chapter in Switzerland, we're curious how different cultural perspectives on service can help us all become better changemakers. - Ryan & Thomas Growney #NewServiceAcademy Image description: A graphic depicting a wrinkled piece of paper with postmarks, the handwritten words "How do different cultures approach the concept of service?", and the Service Academy logo.

Living Between Two Cultures: Insights from My Book Presentation at Rotary Vlissingen. Thank you for the warm welcome! When I first arrived in the Netherlands, things were a bit amusing. The Dutch are quite tall, and they sure love their sandwiches! Plus, they drink tap water here – who knew? But hey, the Dutch are really good at being on time, and they love speaking English, even though they're Dutch. Oh, and they're all about staying fit and healthy, too. But the best part? Answering all those curious questions about what's Dutch and why the Dutch eat meatloaf on Wednesdays and fish on Fridays. It's all part of the fun of living here! Last week, I had the pleasure of presenting my book, "32 Brilliant Ways to Survive and Thrive in a New Country," at the Rotary Club in Vlissingen, hosted by Dockwize. Amidst the lively atmosphere, we embarked on a journey exploring the challenges of "Living Between Two Cultures." My presentation delved into deeper questions about what it means to be Dutch and how one assimilates into a new culture. Through humour and insight, we navigated these cultural nuances with a newfound appreciation for the diversity that enriches our lives. 📖 Following the engaging discussion, attendees eagerly lined up to purchase copies of "32 Brilliant Ways," eager to delve deeper into the strategies for thriving in a new land. The response was truly heart-warming, affirming the relevance and impact of the insights shared. 🤝By booking my presentation, employers can foster a deeper understanding among their diverse workforce, cultivating an environment of inclusivity and collaboration. 🌍Companies can opt to include Dutch language lessons for their foreign employees, enhancing integration and communication within the workplace to embrace cultural diversity and maximise team cohesion. 👉👉 Get my book "32 Brilliant Ways to Survive and Thrive in a New Country" at www.tsarina.info/book.
