History is alive! George W. Bush recognized Paul Johnson with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2006. And for good reason. Paul was a historian who wanted to inspire in people a sense of dignity. He felt it was important for people to be elevated above ideas. "People matter more than concepts and must come first." Paul was a storyteller. More importantly, a teller of the human story. One of my favorite subjects in school was history. It helped that I had a fabulous teacher who brought history to life. She didn't just have us memorize events and dates; she engaged us with "stories" about the people and the times in which they lived! Sometimes people get lost in the details of history because it's difficult to connect with it. Without humanizing history, it's easy to overlook its real value. People are fascinating: quirky, odd, brilliant, funny, creative, passionate — all gifts. Every person we encounter possesses unique and valuable qualities. People aren't just worth studying. We owe it to them! What happens today, no matter who you are, becomes a part of history. Everyone leaves a footprint. 👣 #gifts #voiceover #marketing #voiceoverartist #advertisingandmarketing

𝙒𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙃𝙞𝙜𝙝-𝙎𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝘼𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙖™️. Now more than ever we must become proficient in communicating clearly, confidently and credibly. And that means 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 - 𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙡, 𝙣𝙤𝙣-𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙡, 𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙫𝙞𝙨𝙪𝙖𝙡. Two ways of communicating that are at the forefront of discussions right now are through 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙘𝙮. As I discuss in the video below, these are verbs not titles. That means you have to do something. So, if you’re asking how you can be an ally or advocate for Black people and people of color, watch the video and also 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚: 📌 Hire them 📌Pay them their value 📌Respect them, their voices, their history, their lived experiences and their expertise 📌Buy from their businesses 📌Build with them 📌Fund their businesses and dreams 📌Mentor them 📌Sponsor them 📌Amplify them, their voices, and their work 📌Share their work and give them credit for it 📌Partner with them 📌Elevate them 📌Affirm them 📌Honor their ideas, gifts and talents 📌Share your expertise, resources and relationships with them 📌Speak up for them 📌Speak out against things that harm them 📌Stand with them 📌Donate your time, talent, treasure to organizations and causes that benefit them 📌Defend them and their causes 📌Research and educate yourself and your communities 📌Dismantle the systems, policies, and practices that oppress them 📌Lobby on behalf of them at work, in the community, in government ➡️ And there’s more. But that should give you a good starting point. There’s at least one thing on the list that each of you can do. And because I know some of you will ask - where do I or how do I - the answer is Google, Chat GPT, Claude, ... 🩷. Do Something! #highstakescommunication #theartofstrategicresistance
