*Minister Of Aviation Attends ICAO Symposium On Advanced Air Mobility In Montréal* For three consecutive days, the Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, attended the first symposium of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) on Advanced Air Mobility (AAM 2024) held in Montréal, Canada. The theme of the symposium was "Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Global Harmonization and Interoperability: Challenges and Opportunities." The symposium built upon the developments of DRONE ENABLE, focusing on concepts for AAM, electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, vertiports, automation, trust frameworks, and airspace integration. Various dimensions of these new mobility concepts and infrastructure were considered and discussed. AAM 2024 brought together key stakeholders from the aviation industry, academia, government, and international organizations involved in Advanced Air Mobility and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) to exchange research, best practices, lessons learned, and respective challenges. Attention was given to ongoing ICAO activities related to AAM, including UAS, which need to be collectively addressed to facilitate their integration into the global aviation system. This inaugural symposium by ICAO was attended by ministers from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, and Ghana, as well as numerous Director Generals and prominent industry leaders. The Minister was accompanied by the Acting Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), along with other staff members, including those from the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and other industry players from Nigeria. AAM 2024 is providing networking and bilateral opportunities, showcasing the breadth of existing technologies, ongoing research and development, as well as commercial and non-commercial activities in this rapidly evolving sector of the aviation industry. Exhibition booths and sponsorship opportunities are also available, which the Minister is determined to explore for the benefit of emerging businesses in Nigeria.
