Did you know that 96% of the UK’s registered charities are small, with an income of £1m or less per year? Many, like Chichester Cinema, operate on much less, yet their impact on local communities is immense. As a small charity in the arts sector, we pride ourselves on being agile, responsive, and deeply connected to our community. Our size allows us to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and tailor our offerings to meet the unique needs of our audience — this means featuring new as well as retro works, for example, our recent Cult of Cinema series which wraps up this week with the brilliant Trainspotting 🎟 https://lnkd.in/eeWPk5FY However, the landscape for independent cinemas remains challenging. Many are still grappling with the after-effects of the pandemic, and the recent Writers and Screen Actors Guild strike has added further uncertainty. According to the Independent Cinema Office, the post-pandemic recovery has been slow, with audience numbers not yet back to pre-COVID levels, highlighting the need for ongoing support. Despite these challenges, our passion for cinema and our commitment to the community drive us forward. We continue to offer a diverse range of films, from independent gems to global masterpieces, and an education programme for children and adults — all ensuring that the magic of cinema remains accessible to all. Your support helps us to survive and keep bring the best of cinema to Chichester. ↪️ Ways that you can support us: https://lnkd.in/eExKnzbW Make a pledge and show your LOVE for smaller charities ... ❤️ #SmallCharityWeek #SupportSmallCharities #ChichesterCinema #IndependentCinema #ArtsSector #CommunityImpact

Thinking outside the FOXp2 "Are you unwrapping the language and storytelling gifts at the center of our DNA?" What skills are you sharpening this week to deepen your sense of purpose, grow the effectiveness of your role, or help you in the pursuit of meaning? The clues 🔍 as to which skills to develop might be found at the centre of the magic you are weaving while mastering your craft, or when you find yourself: 1. "In a state of productive Flow" - Business 2. "In the Zone" - Sport 3. "In a time dilation" - Life Personally, I L😍VE Stories; they move us, connect us, educate, and entertain us. I'm no anthropologist, but I read recently about a FOXP2 gene important for the development of speech and language in humans. Woven into the fabric of our DNA, it is in part, responsible for our ability to tell stories at the biological level and influence our tribes. I don't have the knowledge or experience to speak about deep biology but I think it is fair to say that stories, legends, and fables have been key to human innovation, movement, and progression since the dawn of time. The ability to convey an idea has always been a superpower, but in 2024, how is that skill evolving in this diverse and ubiquitous world of social media and information exchange? The collaboration with the superb staff at Jane Tomlinson's Run For All and my team at RAM Films over the weekend was a reminder of the "power of sport" as a wonderful storytelling platform. The Marathon events were an example of an underlying narrative thread of care and empathy, augmented with physical expression and collective "action." This one minute video is a snapshot of a day where thousands of individual emotive stories were told, born out of the narrative phrase: "RUN FOR A MATE, WITH A MATE. The day was another highlight in my 27 years at Headingley AMT and the community spirit and social impact left behind, is an immeasurable treasure. I wonder what stories you might share this week, which method you will use to tell them, on which platform, and how it will influence your tribe over time? Top of my continuing skills acquisition list this week: 1. Listening 👂🏾 2. Writing 🖊️ 3. Speaking 🗣️ Another story telling marathon from the guys at RAM Films 🎥👇🏾
😍 WOW WOW WOW, what can we say, you did it again #Leeds! Congratulations to Jane Tomlinson's Run For All for putting on another spectacular event for the city! A day filled with love as people came together to raise some much needed cash for their chosen charities! A massive congratulations to everyone who took part either as a participant or a volunteer. Special thanks as always to Siobhan Curtis & Olivia Hester for your guidance and professionalism throughout. 👀 Keep your eyes peeled for the full edit but here's a short version to whet your appetite! #Film #CorporateEvents #liveevents #filmmaking #documentary #branding #Visionmix #production #videography #canon #canonfilm #editing #edit #education #university #travel #promotion #promotional #products #branding #brandidentity Tristan Batley-Kyle Clarion Solicitors

Ours is an industry that gives so much to society & indeed is incredibly rewarding for those who get the chance to enjoy being a part of it. However, it’s also an industry that places enormous stress & pressure on its community. For many the idea of having any semblance of a work/life balance when working in film & TV is antithetical. With this in mind, the work of the The Film and TV Charity has never been more crucial. They are the one organisation within our industry who are fully focussed on stepping in to help our colleagues when they are struggling. Whether it be mental health, financial assistance or advice & guidance, they work tirelessly to offer support to those who need it most. But without our support & donations they cannot do their job & without the work they do, our industry won’t survive, let alone thrive. Donate today & help make a difference. #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportTheIndustry #SupportEachOther
A Call for Compassion in a Time of Crisis 🎬❤️ (PLEASE REPOST) As someone who has spent years working in the film and TV industry, I’ve witnessed first-hand the passion, dedication, and creativity that drives our work. But I’ve also seen the darker side—the stress, the pressure, and the all-too-common reality of mental health struggles, financial instability, and job insecurity that many in our community face. Right now, the UK’s film and TV industry is grappling with a crisis. Mental health challenges are on the rise, with so many feeling isolated, unsupported, and overwhelmed. The economic uncertainty, coupled with fluctuating work, has created a state of financial precarity for many, leaving countless individuals at risk. This is where the The Film and TV Charity steps in. As an organisation dedicated to supporting the people who make this industry what it is, the charity provides critical services such as mental health support, financial assistance, and guidance to those who need it most. Their work has never been more important. But to continue this vital mission, we need your help. If you’re able to, I encourage you to consider making a donation—whether it’s a small contribution or a larger one. Every penny counts and goes directly to supporting the people who make our industry possible. This is a time when we need to come together and show that, as a community, we care deeply for the wellbeing of each other. Please join me in supporting the Film and TV Charity. Let’s make sure that no one in our industry has to face these challenges alone. Together, we can create a future where support, stability, and compassion are within reach for everyone in the film and TV industry. 🙏 Donate today and make a difference. Thank you for your generosity and for standing with our community at this critical time. 💙 #FilmAndTVCharity #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportTheIndustry #FilmIndustry #TVIndustry #Charity #Donate #TogetherWeCan #SupportEachOther BBC BBC News BBC Studios Banijay UK Fremantle UK All3Media Sky Sky News Sky Studios Channel 4 Channel 5 Warner Bros. Central Florida Locals: ENZIAN NEEDS YOUR HELP! If you're a local to the Orlando area, you likely know and love Enzian Theater; I've enjoyed it so much during my years here that I had to get involved, so I joined the Advisory Council. And we've been hit hard. As you may have seen in recent news, the state of Florida has made a monumental and unprecedented cut of $32 million in funding for arts and cultural institutions. This means that beginning July 1, state arts funding supporting Enzian and other arts nonprofits will be zero. As a nonprofit organization, Enzian’s continued operation relies on government support and grant funding. With this elimination of state funds, Enzian will experience a total loss of $104,191. For almost 40 years, Enzian has been Central Florida’s home to independent cinema. More than a movie theater, it is a curated celebration of film, showcasing and prioritizing cinema of historical and cultural significance to entertain, inspire, educate, and connect the community through film. Now more than ever, your support is essential in sustaining Enzian’s future. Please consider a gift to help bridge this funding gap and keep cinema in Central Florida alive and accessible to all. Here’s how you can help today: 1. Make a Donation Only 25% of Enzian’s operating income is derived from ticket sales. Make a donation today and your generosity will directly support our mission! 2. Join the Enzian Film Society With an Enzian membership, you can receive exclusive presales, ticket discounts, table reservations, and other amazing perks. 3. Become a Sponsor Enzian could not bring the community together at our numerous screenings, festivals, and special events without the generous support of corporate sponsors. https://lnkd.in/eurNqYY7

Of course, it was an arts organization that came up with a creative solution to address cash flow uncertainties. Given the fluctuations in both funding and expenses since COVID, creating reserves in partnership with donors can help organizations through tough times. #arts #fundraising #strategy #theatre #museum #nonprofit https://ow.ly/XyJI50UboER

🎭 Theatre is a Right, Not a Privilege. Let’s Double the Impact. Imagine growing up never setting foot in a theatre. This year’s SOLT-UK report revealed a 50% drop in school theatre trips—that’s thousands of kids missing out on moments that ignite creativity, boost confidence, and expand their minds We’re not okay with that. At the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, we believe every child deserves to sit in a theatre, let their imaginations run riot, and feel like anything’s possible. That's why we’re running the Big Give Christmas Challenge to raise £20,000—and thanks to matched donations by the amazing The Childhood Trust, every pound you give will be doubled. What does that mean? ✨ £50 becomes £100—enough for tickets for 7 young people 🗓 Save the dates: 3rd–10th December. 🎟 Donate and double the impact. 📣 Share this with anyone who believes in the power of the arts and creativity. This isn’t just about theatre—it’s about making sure the arts are for everyone. Hit the link 👇🏾 https://lnkd.in/gDGzg9QE #BigGive #LyricHammersmith #CreativityForAll

#CharitySubtypes #AdvancingCulture When the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission register an organisation, its charity ‘subtypes’ are also publicly registered. These reflect the category of that organisation’s charitable purpose, which is what its activities will work towards achieving. Each subtype has a specific meaning under the law. The subtype for discussion today is Advancing Culture. ✔️ Advancing culture includes the purposes of promoting or fostering culture, and caring for, preserving and protecting Australian heritage (but is not limited to this). Some examples of charities advancing culture: o Organisations that promote Australian Indigenous culture and customs o Fine arts societies, musical societies o Foundations for theatre, ballet, and the opera o Museums and libraries o Foundations and trusts supporting these activities ------- ℹ️ Accountants, Lawyers & Advisors ℹ️ Do your clients enquire about Charities/NFPs? 6mo(don't tell all the other brilliant small charities in Chichester but.....) you're one of my most favourite small charities in Chichester Chichester Cinema at New Park. I've been a Friend for some years, and love the eclectic mix of programming and the personal welcome.
