Two weeks ago we had the pleasure of hosting a HelloStudents event with the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt at our New Work Base in Vienna! 🥰 The day kicked off with a warm welcome from our recruiting team, who introduced the New Work Group as an exciting employer. We delved into insightful presentations on improving the candidate experience from Therese and Stefanie from XING, followed by Tatjana and Marion from kununu, who shared tips on how to use reviews effectively. The interactive Q&A sessions sparked great discussions. To wrap up the day, we took the students on an office tour to showcase our vibrant workspace and culture. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and special thanks to our presenters for their valuable insights! We hope to see some of you again soon. 🙌 And special thanks to Leontina and Katharina for organising the event. 💚 Would you like to visit our office and get to know us? Dear Partners, This week, May 1st or May Day was celebrated in many countries across the world. In Finland, May 1st is a way to mark the changing of the seasons, as well as a day to celebrate work. I sincerely thank you, our valued partners, for keeping us busy. A steady work stream is vital, not only for employees and employers but also for society. In Finland, May 1st is also a day to appreciate education. Students and their fresh new thinking are crucial in building our future. This spring, we at Vahterus had an extra reason to celebrate engineering education. Vahterus received the ‘Varsinainen Tekniikan Teko – Det Egentliga Teknik Dådet’ prize from Åbo DI-Kerho, AboaTEK and TFiF Åboavdelningen. Every May Day, or ‘Vappu’ in Finnish, the award is given to a person or organisation that has significantly and actively advanced technology development, technology application and technology education in the Southwest Finland region. One of the reasons behind the award was the work we’ve done for the newly established Faculty of Technology at University of Turku, where Vahterus was one of the main financial sponsors. This is a positive structural change in our region in Southwest Finland, and an important development for local businesses, since it strengthens our expertise in engineering and builds new knowledge and experts in the area. In Finland, university students of technology, or ‘teekkarit’, celebrate May Day by wearing a white tasseled cap. Every year, I put on my old student cap from 50 years ago. It may be showing some signs of age, but just like me, it’s still ready for duty on the worksite! Together we succeed! Mauri Kontu Founder and CEO #vahterus #heatexchangers

Meet the Team behind #hellostavanger! When passion meets purpose, magic happens! 🌟 👋 Introducing Per Kristian Røsandhaug a consultancy leader and advisor at Webstep 😃 1. Why did you want to be part of the HelloStavanger journey? I am a firm believer in Stavanger as an attractive business region - in all aspects. We are already known both nationally and internationally for our Energy/Oil and Gas sector - and I think it is only fitting that we start building up our reputation within all the other extremely interesting sectors that are thriving in our region. One common denominator across most industries nowadays is the inclusion of digital tools and technologies, and so it makes perfect sense that Stavanger should host a conference for everyone that is involved in software development to foster collaboration, knowledge sharing and innovation across industries. These were my initial thoughts when we sat down last year to discuss the potential for HelloStavanger. My motivation was then, and still is: to be able to be a part of creating a brand new, and slightly different, conference for all of our extremely talented people, as well as for the region itself. In short, the choice was easy - I was happy to jump on board! 2. What's got you counting down the days with excitement for the event? Definitely the overwhelming response we’ve received - both in regards to the speakers who have submitted their presentations (514 submitted - from 261 speakers - representing 34 different countries!). Additionally, the sheer number of conversations I’ve had with people genuinely excited for the inaugural conference in October. From what I can tell so far - we’re in for an absolute treat, both in regards to inspiring talks, as well as interesting conversations with a lot of amazing people. 3. Why should people join us at HelloStavanger? Well. If my previous answers haven’t made it perfectly clear already, I’ll try to summarize quickly why this should be the conference to prioritize this year: Be part of the very first software conference to be held in Stavanger, and let’s together make sure that this will just be the first of many! If you are curious and eager to learn - the quality of the talks should be a very strong motivation to join! The conference will surely be an exceptional place to meet interesting people and should make for a great venue to explore new ideas and foster a sense of collaboration and community for people involved with software in our region. HelloStavanger is quickly becoming THE conference to visit this year if you are based in Stavanger. Tickets are limited, so hurry up and grab yours now! Hope to see you there! 🤩 #team #hellostavanger #grabyourtickets

Time to head home after two very inspiring days in the Linneaus University campus in Växjö. Topics like: - What is the key for building and implementing a successful corporate culture? - How do you build a culture that reaches and become the spirit of the entire organisation? Especially in a large enterprise, that is challenging. But as some examples show, even those that appears as generally popular corporate cultures can be quickly torn down if the environment drastically changes, and the impact can be devastating. - How to make the employees feel an identity with the company and its values and how to treat the balance of the identity of the self and the identity of the team? …are some examples of what was covered over these two days. Good thing the small town of Växjö offers a fantastic environment for reflection inbetween the classes!

In May, I am glad to be hosted by Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, to share some words and imaginal practice to explore the question of Reimagining the 'Good Life'. Read more here and sign up to attend! ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Reimagining the Good Life with Phoebe Tickell: How can we find joy within planetary boundaries? We warmly welcome you to Sitra's online workshop to join systems thinker Phoebe Tickell on 8 May (10.00-11.30am) to explore the good life from new, sustainable perspectives. The event will take place in Teams. What if we could live in a way that not only serves us, but also future generations and the more-than-human world? What if our joy is actually entangled with the joy of others, past, present and future? As of 12 April, we Finns have already consumed our fair share of natural resources for 2024. It is clear that our lifestyles require some bold changes. But why does it seem so hard? Perhaps what we lack is not information but imagination. Phoebe Tickell is a systems thinker and the founder of the organisation Moral Imaginations. She believes that the vast majority of our challenges are not resource problems, but imagination problems, and that imagination is a muscle that can be flexed to change the way we see – and act. Moral imagination is the capacity to believe that things can, and must, be different. Join us to learn, imagine and connect with others in this online workshop facilitated by Tickell. A short presentation and a guided imagination exercise will help us shift our perceptions and move from dreams to action. More information and the event programme are available on the event website: https://lnkd.in/eqe-TrE3 See you there!

Integrity Wins! While watching the grueling competitions of the recent Summer’s Olympics, I reflected on how hard these athletes train. Every day, they remain fully committed to their sport, executing over and over, without hesitation to bring home medals. Just like these athletes, we must execute our Culture of Integrity without hesitation, every time. That is what we aspire to. Last week I had the pleasure of hosting our annual Integrity Week at Siemens Energy . It’s a long-standing tradition for us with events all around the company, lots of communications, and a great outpouring of support for Integrity and Compliance. But this year we wanted to do it differently. Instead of the Compliance Team creating the content and material to present to the organization, we asked for volunteers from the business to stand up and tell their stories, in their own words. Honestly, I was a bit nervous. What if they didn’t say exactly the right things or, worse, what if no one volunteered. Well, I was in for a surprise. We immediately received fifty volunteers to tell their stories through short videos or posters. But I was even more surprised when I listened to their compelling stories. They were exceptional, sincere, and honest stories about what Team Purple does every day. They are champions for integrity. And that’s how we came up with the name “Integrity Champions”. They work hard every day, honing their integrity and compliance skill sets, not to win medals, but to ensure “Integrity Wins!” I cannot say enough how proud I am of our Integrity Champions and Siemens Energy. We hosted over one hundred events around the globe: ice cream socials, juice bars, training, guest speakers, and many other events. It was fun, it was engaging, and we grew together as an organization. Talking with the teams and seeing the postings on Viva Engage, I was comforted that Integrity is not something we focus on once a year, it is part of our DNA at Siemens Energy and it is part of the culture we live and breathe every day. #compliance #teampurple #integrity #integrityweek
