https://lnkd.in/gaH3TSUR Article title: Holistic and individualized interventions for behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia Author(s): Naoya Tsukii Journal: Annals of Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Journal ISSN: 2692-448X Abstract: Since “living well with dementia” is a concept that varies from person to person, the care provided is expected to be customized to the individual needs of each person with dementia. Support is expected to involve shared decision-making between people with dementia and their caregivers, and a comprehensive geriatric assessment within the framework of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health is expected to be conducted to help these persons with dementia realize their goals. Additionally, the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle is expected to be regularly implemented to verify the effectiveness of the intervention. Although the disability of the individual with dementia increases as the disease progresses, it is important to support them to live positively by reducing their difficulties in daily living. #DementiaCare #QualityOfLife #UnmetNeeds #LivingWellWithDementia #AlzheimersBiomarkers #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseaseTreatment #AlzheimersDiseaseAmyloid #OnsetAlzheimers #AlzheimersTherapy #AlzheimersNeuroinflammation #AlzheimersDiabetes #FamilialAlzheimers #MicrogliaAlzheimers #DietAlzheimers #MemantineAlzheimers #AlzheimersDementia #AlzheimersDiseaseTau #AlzheimersDiseaseDiagnosis #AlternativeTreatmentsForAlzheimers #AlzheimersDiseaseRisk #ModelAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseasePathology #AlzheimersDiseaseDiabetes #AlzheimersDiseasePrevention #StressAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersSigns #FrontotemporalDementia #VascularDementia #DementiaTherapy #LewyBodyDementia #DementiaCognitive #DementiaMusic #DementiaOccupational #DementiaParkinson #PhysicalDementia #DementiaTreatmentAndCare #DementiaDiagnosis #PrevalenceDementia #DementiaRiskAndPrevention #DementiaSymptoms #DementiaDepression #AdvancedDementia #SemanticDementia #RiskFactors #Age #FamilyHistory #Genetics #Heredity #GenesLinkedToAlzheimers #BrainHealth #HighBloodPressure #HighCholesterol #DamageToBrainCells #Hippocampus #CardiovascularRiskFactors #CoreMentalFunctions #Memory #CommunicationAndLanguage #AbilityToFocus #ReasoningAndJudgment #VisualPerception #DementiaCare #NonDrugTherapies #DementiaCaregiver #DementiaCaregiverBurden #DementiaCareMapping #DementiaCareNursing #DementiaCaregiverEducation #DementiaCareManagement #DementiaCaregiverIntervention #DementiaCaregiverDepression #EarlyOnsetDementiaCaregiver

https://lnkd.in/giq4PWq3 Article title: Self-prevention and self-management of the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia: A case study Author(s): Yohko Maki Journal: Annals of Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Journal ISSN: 2692-448X Abstract: Behavioral And Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) are common in individuals with dementia and are associated with poor Quality of Life (QOL) and increased care burden for family members. Managing BPSD, particularly violent behaviors, is essential to improve the QOL for persons with dementia and their families. A 10-week intervention was conducted to empower individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or early dementia to manage their BPSD independently. Two men participated in the intervention with their wives; both were violent toward their wives. #Dementia #MildCognitiveImpairment #BehavioralAndPsychologicalSymptomsOfDementia #SelfManagement #Empowerment #AlzheimersBiomarkers #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseaseTreatment #AlzheimersDiseaseAmyloid #OnsetAlzheimers #AlzheimersTherapy #AlzheimersNeuroinflammation #AlzheimersDiabetes #FamilialAlzheimers #MicrogliaAlzheimers #DietAlzheimers #MemantineAlzheimers #AlzheimersDementia #AlzheimersDiseaseTau #AlzheimersDiseaseDiagnosis #AlternativeTreatmentsForAlzheimers #AlzheimersDiseaseRisk #ModelAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseasePathology #AlzheimersDiseaseDiabetes #AlzheimersDiseasePrevention #StressAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersSigns #FrontotemporalDementia #VascularDementia #DementiaTherapy #LewyBodyDementia #DementiaCognitive #DementiaMusic #DementiaOccupational #DementiaParkinson #PhysicalDementia #DementiaTreatmentAndCare #DementiaDiagnosis #PrevalenceDementia #DementiaRiskAndPrevention #DementiaSymptoms #DementiaDepression #AdvancedDementia #SemanticDementia #RiskFactors #Age #FamilyHistory #Genetics #Heredity #GenesLinkedToAlzheimers #BrainHealth #HighBloodPressure #HighCholesterol #DamageToBrainCells #Hippocampus #CardiovascularRiskFactors #CoreMentalFunctions #Memory #CommunicationAndLanguage #AbilityToFocus #ReasoningAndJudgment #VisualPerception #DementiaCare #NonDrugTherapies #DementiaCaregiver #DementiaCaregiverBurden #DementiaCareMapping #DementiaCareNursing #DementiaCaregiverEducation #DementiaCareManagement #DementiaCaregiverIntervention #DementiaCaregiverDepression #EarlyOnsetDementiaCaregiver

https://lnkd.in/gQXUQE3P Article title: Co-beneficial relationship-based care for persons with dementia Author(s): Yohko Maki; Koichi Nakamura Journal: Annals of Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Journal ISSN: 2692-448X Abstract: Co-beneficial relationship-based care has been proposed as a basic concept of dementia care to improve the social well-being of persons with dementia and those close to them, including family members and caregivers. The aim is to empower persons with dementia to manifest their innate altruism, which is intact until the end-of-life period. As dementia may change relationships even among family members, it is desirable for persons with dementia and those close to them to make efforts to maintain mutually beneficial relationships in their daily lives. #DementiaCare #RelationshipBasedCare #SocialWellBeing #Altruism #SocialReward #AlzheimersBiomarkers #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseaseTreatment #AlzheimersDiseaseAmyloid #OnsetAlzheimers #AlzheimersTherapy #AlzheimersNeuroinflammation #AlzheimersDiabetes #FamilialAlzheimers #MicrogliaAlzheimers #DietAlzheimers #MemantineAlzheimers #AlzheimersDementia #AlzheimersDiseaseTau #AlzheimersDiseaseDiagnosis #AlternativeTreatmentsForAlzheimers #AlzheimersDiseaseRisk #ModelAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseasePathology #AlzheimersDiseaseDiabetes #AlzheimersDiseasePrevention #StressAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersSigns #FrontotemporalDementia #VascularDementia #DementiaTherapy #LewyBodyDementia #DementiaCognitive #DementiaMusic #DementiaOccupational #DementiaParkinson #PhysicalDementia #DementiaTreatmentAndCare #DementiaDiagnosis #PrevalenceDementia #DementiaRiskAndPrevention #DementiaSymptoms #DementiaDepression #AdvancedDementia #SemanticDementia #RiskFactors #Age #FamilyHistory #Genetics #Heredity #GenesLinkedToAlzheimers #BrainHealth #HighBloodPressure #HighCholesterol #DamageToBrainCells #Hippocampus #CardiovascularRiskFactors #CoreMentalFunctions #Memory #CommunicationAndLanguage #AbilityToFocus #ReasoningAndJudgment #VisualPerception #DementiaCare #NonDrugTherapies #DementiaCaregiver #DementiaCaregiverBurden #DementiaCareMapping #DementiaCareNursing #DementiaCaregiverEducation #DementiaCareManagement #DementiaCaregiverIntervention #DementiaCaregiverDepression #EarlyOnsetDementiaCaregiver

https://lnkd.in/gB-2cCyV Article title: Himotoki as a decision-making empowerment tool to live well with dementia Author(s): Yohko Maki; Koichi Nakamura Journal: Annals of Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Journal ISSN: 2692-448X Abstract: Shared decision-making is indispensable among people with dementia, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure that people with dementia live well. Since living with dementia involves the process of losing one’s independence and requiring support from others in all aspects of life, everyday life becomes a series of shared decision-making and collaborative efforts. Dementia care includes the process of rebuilding relationships through shared decision-making and collaboration. In particular, it is of paramount importance to make decisions on how to live well with dementia. #DementiaCare #SharedDecisionMaking #LivingWellWithDementia #TheoryOfMind #CognitiveEmpathy #AlzheimersBiomarkers #AlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseaseTreatment #AlzheimersDiseaseAmyloid #OnsetAlzheimers #AlzheimersTherapy #AlzheimersNeuroinflammation #AlzheimersDiabetes #FamilialAlzheimers #MicrogliaAlzheimers #DietAlzheimers #MemantineAlzheimers #AlzheimersDementia #AlzheimersDiseaseTau #AlzheimersDiseaseDiagnosis #AlternativeTreatmentsForAlzheimers #AlzheimersDiseaseRisk #ModelAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersDiseasePathology #AlzheimersDiseaseDiabetes #AlzheimersDiseasePrevention #StressAlzheimersDisease #AlzheimersSigns #FrontotemporalDementia #VascularDementia #DementiaTherapy #LewyBodyDementia #DementiaCognitive #DementiaMusic #DementiaOccupational #DementiaParkinson #PhysicalDementia #DementiaTreatmentAndCare #DementiaDiagnosis #PrevalenceDementia #DementiaRiskAndPrevention #DementiaSymptoms #DementiaDepression #AdvancedDementia #SemanticDementia #RiskFactors #Age #FamilyHistory #Genetics #Heredity #GenesLinkedToAlzheimers #BrainHealth #HighBloodPressure #HighCholesterol #DamageToBrainCells #Hippocampus #CardiovascularRiskFactors #CoreMentalFunctions #Memory #CommunicationAndLanguage #AbilityToFocus #ReasoningAndJudgment #VisualPerception #DementiaCare #NonDrugTherapies #DementiaCaregiver #DementiaCaregiverBurden #DementiaCareMapping #DementiaCareNursing #DementiaCaregiverEducation #DementiaCareManagement #DementiaCaregiverIntervention #DementiaCaregiverDepression #EarlyOnsetDementiaCaregiver

It’s #WorldParkinsonsDay today! Symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease usually begin gradually and worsen over time. As the disease progresses, people may have difficulty walking and talking. They may also have mental and behavioral changes, sleep problems, depression, memory difficulties, and fatigue. Although there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, medicines, surgical treatment, and other therapies can often relieve some symptoms. Today's treatments are tailored to each person's unique symptoms; there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to Parkinson's care. Most often, people start drug therapy when symptoms interfere with the ability to do what they want or need to do. Deep brain stimulation may be an option when medications do not work as well or when people experience side effects such as dyskinesia. Exercise also can help manage Parkinson's symptoms, and some early-stage research shows it may help protect the brain. Work with your physician and a physical therapist to develop a safe and enjoyable exercise regimen. If you are caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s at home, Amicus Brain's Keiko can help you learn how to cope with the challenges. Our platform delivers intelligent decision-support and advisory services, enabling speedier and higher-quality decision-making for caregivers and people living with neurodegenerative disorders. Media For Seniors...Reminiscing with Purpose Now in my 20th year serving, working with, and caring for seniors there are so many things that come to mind when considering what quality of life truly means. On a personal level, it means spending time with loved ones, having fun with loved ones, and really experiencing life with one another. In my case a lot of that time now is from afar. Regardless of the distance separating each other there are connections that help to transcend distance. It’s a rare interaction that doesn’t include recounting shared experiences from the past, whether I’m talking with my 37-year-old son, 67-year-old sister, or my 89-year-old parents. [Personal note, my 16-month-old grandson doesn’t quite grasp this yet, but that will come.] Given my experience with Validation [https://vfvalidation.org/] I can’t help but appreciate the import of shared life experiences especially when we reminisce. My role as the Director of Engagement with Media for Seniors [www.mediaforseniors.com] dovetails well with my desire to see high quality of life outcomes for the residents I serve through my consulting work. Here is a link to some of the research Media For Seniors has compiled to support the mission of Media for Seniors specific to reminiscence therapy. Please check this out and let me know what you think! https://lnkd.in/g8thQtPd Call me today to learn more about this amazing reminiscence-oriented service for seniors. I can be reached at 717.659.4767. Happy reminiscing!

October marks Lewy-Body Dementia Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on this challenging disease. Affecting an estimated 1.4 million people in the U.S., Lewy-Body Dementia (LBD) is a progressive condition with no cure yet. How can physical and occupational therapy help? Research suggests that a team-based approach, focusing on physical and cognitive tasks, is most effective. At Neu-Level, our therapists are dedicated to working with those diagnosed with LBD and other forms of dementia, bringing the patience and understanding needed to support each individual. #neuropt #neuroot #physicaltherapy #occupationaltherapy #dementia #lewybodydementia #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsonisms #parkinsonism
