OpenAI just showed off their new search engine, and whoops - they messed up in their own demo and Atlantic reported on that (link in the comments). That happened before to them and other genAI companies and will happen again. But here's the thing: AI screwing up doesn't mean it's useless. Far from it. AI's real superpower is in helping us humans make decisions faster, especially when we race against time. In high-pressure situations like emergency services or dealing with angry customers, AI can be a lifesaver. It's like having a super-smart assistant that can sift through tons of info in seconds, giving you the right stuff to work with and focus on. The trick is, we shouldn't expect AI to be perfect or do everything on its own. It's more like a really clever tool that makes us better at our jobs. Sure, it might mess up sometimes, but with a human keeping an eye on things, it can be pretty damn powerful. In the real world, AI is already proving its worth. It's not about replacing humans - it's about making us faster and smarter at what we do. Eg. having an AI that can understand what a caller is saying and quickly pull up relevant info. You'd still make the final call, but you'd be way better equipped to handle whatever's thrown at you. As this tech keeps getting better, it'll probably become even more helpful and we'll start relying on it more. But the best setups will always be the ones where AI and humans are working together, playing to each other's strengths. So while AI is not perfect, when used right, it's already a game-changer in a lot of ways.
