On the latest episode of the Connected Leadership podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Tracey Lovejoy and Shannon Lucas, co-founders of Catalyst Constellations. They shared fascinating insights into the world of catalysts – those individuals with an unstoppable drive to create change – and how organisations can harness their power. While catalysts are essential for progress, they often face burnout due to their relentless drive and the pressure to constantly push boundaries. Tracey and Shannon emphasised the need for self-awareness and self-compassion for catalysts to recognise their tendencies and create strategies to manage their energy. Key Takeaways: ➡️ Catalysts are essential for driving innovation and change. ➡️ Organisations need to identify, nurture, and support their catalysts. ➡️ Self-awareness, self-compassion, and supportive communities are crucial for helping catalysts thrive. Take a listen to the podcast & learn how to identify & support these change-makers in your organisation > > https://lnkd.in/eJj5cdFr

Do you Speak From Centre? 🎯 Conversations build our leadership and career journeys, but let’s face it: they won’t all be easy. Some may be challenging. Some may be polarizing. Some may consist of clashing beliefs, ideas, and opinions. So, what can we do as leaders to effectively navigate polarizing conversations and produce productive, meaningful outcomes? Speak From Centre. For this week’s episode of the Your Brilliant Difference Podcast, I had the honour of interviewing Karen Jones, CEO of Scared Leadership Solutions and Vice President of Learning and Partner Solutions at NextUp. With 15+ years of working in leadership development and talent management, she specializes in creating emotionally safe discussion environments. She believes that polarizing conversations shouldn’t be shied away from, rather when approached effectively, organizations can sow benefits of growth, trust, and understanding. Karen shares copious tips and insights in episode 165, but one of the key tactics she shared to help leaders handle difficult conversations, was Speak From Centre: “This technique of Speaking From Centre is to become genuinely inquisitive about the person. It's much easier said than done, but you can begin to ask open-ended questions like, ‘Can you please say more about that?’ ‘How did you form that opinion?’ ‘Can you direct me to where you got that from? What makes you think that, because I have a very different experience from that?’” 🎙️ Get more tips for navigating productive, polarizing conversations by tuning into my newest podcast episode: https://lnkd.in/gBRjehp2 What are your thoughts about Speaking From Centre? What tools have helped you navigate difficult conversations?

Are you dealing with a transition in your organization or in your leadership? Or maybe it's in your family or other personal situations. I would be surprised in you said "Not me...nothing to see here! During my podcast walk on a gorgeous Friday, I again stumbled upon an older show from Jan 2024 on "The Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast" called "Leading Through Leadership Transitions with Gavin Adams". Anyone who has been at a startup knows transition and change can be regular occurrences so this podcast really felt like it was delivered to my ears! I had not heard of Gavin Adams prior but he wrote the book "Big Shoes to Fill: Stepping into a Leadership Role...Without Stepping in It". His story is fascinating and his lessons are so practical. I am reading his book now but in the podcast he explores 4 emotional states that as a leader we must acknowledge. Number 2 "Grief" really stuck with me: - When things change, people don’t resist the change itself, they resist the loss associated with the change As leaders we need to to ask "What do you feel like you are losing"? If you can name it, you can better manage through it. I found the episode very profound and not just from a leadership perspective but for someone who has been through a LOT of change. Maybe you also need to as yourself "What do I feel like I am losing as part of this change and transition?" I will add the show to this post 👇 but interested in your thoughts if you do listen. Enjoy your Saturday!

Leading Self is fueled by care for others not self. Ineffective leadership is fundamentally selfish, meaning when we are ineffective it is because we are making it about ourselves, not others. In this we can see that being “bad” feels good. That said, #leading ourselves well cannot be fueled by care for self only. It must be fueled by care for others. When care for others is the fuel for our #leadership, we will lead self through the most difficult areas of growth. One more time: When care for others is the fuel for our leadership, we will lead self through the most difficult areas of growth. #leadingpeoplefirst #leadingself #humanity #LeadingAdam ✅⬇️ Subscribe to the Leading Adam podcast on your favorite platforms using the link in the comments. ⬇️✅

Like most people, you’ve probably experienced the negative impact of one of the many dysfunctions that exist in organizations. In fact, you could be suffering from it right now because dysfunction is so commonplace. There are six key dysfunctions that Anne Dranitsaris and I see over and over again when working with leaders in businesses of all sizes and complexities. In today’s episode, we will bring three of these common dysfunctions to life by sharing real-life client stories – including the good, the bad, and the ugly. We focus on the pain points of each dysfunction and how we brought client organizations from dysfunction to high-functioning.
