🔆Exciting news from Colombia! 🇨🇴 The Ministry of Mines and Energy has pioneered new guidelines for the creation and management of Energy Communities! ⚡These communities - organized groups of energy consumers- will have the ability to generate, trade, and efficiently utilize energy with renewable resources 🌎. The new regulations differentiate between collective self-consumption 🔄 and collective distributed generation 🔄. The latter even represents the opportunity to sell energy back into the grid! Notably, these communities can ally with each other through signed contracts to determine their respective energy shares 🔀🔋. Even more striking is the provision enabling solar energy distribution from a single photovoltaic asset ☀️. This could provide industrial users with a consistent energy supply. Furthermore, the cap on power for self-consumption projects has been abolished ➡️, now the limit exceeds 1 MW! This decree promotes renewable energy consumption in Colombia 🌱, signaling a shift towards greener and sustainable energy sources. For more information, check out the article from pv magazine LatAm 💻: [link] 📣 Let's hear your thoughts on these changes. Do you think these new rulings will boost #RenewableEnergy? Could this be a model for other countries to follow? Give your feedback! 💬 #Colombia #EnergyCommunities #SolarNebraska #SolarOmaha #SolarNews credit: Luis Inihttps://lnkd.in/gabj8Fzd

During his visit to the Riverside Solar Power Plant in Tashkent, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres commended Uzbekistan for its significant strides in renewable energy. Uzbekistan aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35% per unit of GDP by 2030 and generate 40% of its electricity from renewable sources, offsetting 16 million tons of CO2 annually. The Riverside plant, a key part of this effort, includes a 500 MWh battery energy storage system for stable energy supply. ACWA Power has also signed agreements with the JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. These agreements focus on developing three solar photovoltaic projects and three battery energy storage systems across Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. These storage systems will soon make Uzbekistan home to the largest such systems in the region. 👉 Full video on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gxg2mA7W 👉 Details: https://lnkd.in/dpUktFn4 #RenewableEnergy #GreenEnergy #SustainableDevelopment #UN #Uzbekistan #SolarPower #EnergyStorage #CleanEnergy #ACWAPower #CO2Reduction

As we look ahead to the International Day of Clean Energy on Friday, Santiago Mirabal, Senior MRC Consultant, highlights his extensive experience delivering clean energy projects in Uzbekistan. There are lessons for other nations on how to utilise more renewable energy sources. A deep knowledge of technologies, a wide experience in similar situations, an exhaustive comprehension of needs, a close collaboration with stakeholders and local experts, and an open mind to understand traditions, behaviours and expectations are all important to complete a successful and useful support during the clean energy transition. MRC Consultants and Transaction Advisers started working in Uzbekistan in 2019. At the beginning of our collaboration, we helped the Government of Uzbekistan in modifying the legal framework regarding the clean energy sector. In parallel, we collaborated in the localisation, evaluation and definition of renewable power plants, mainly solar, in the country. Our previous experience in the country and hours of discussion with the stakeholders, gave us the chance of developing an ambitious program which would change the energy portfolio and introduce the renewable energy sector in the coming years. We started a new project in 2021 focusing on the midstream segment of energy where the transmission network development and the renewable energy integration plans were deeply analyzed to ensure the expansion of the renewable energy sector in the country. The implication of the TSO (transmission system operator) and the Ministry of Energy was crucial in providing a complete vision of expansion for the following ten years. We also collaborated in the financing solutions for achieving the goals established in the development plan. MRC is also leading the distribution network masterplan, which is part of the midstream segment, but closely connected to the downstream segment where industries, households and tertiary sector are connected. Again, our deep knowledge of the country, our previous experiences and the collaboration with local authorities and consumers provided us with enough information and tools for delivering an entire development plan for the country. Currently, we are working in the distributed generation for final prosumers (consumer + producer, as a new concept in the energy sector). In collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the DSO (distribution system operator), MRC is evaluating the legal and financial framework that provides a complete scenario for developing the self-consumption renewable energy in the country, mainly focused on end-users. Uzbekistan is facing an ambitious but realistic program of green energy transition. We are proud to help countries like Uzbekistan in achieving their goals, thanks to our knowledge, experience, and collaboration with all stakeholders, contributing to strengthening their energy sector. #electricity #energy #InternationalDayofCleanEnergy #renewableenergy #Uzbekistan

Green Building, Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Behavioral Programs, Human-centered Design, Emerging markets experience, ESG
Uzbekistan Energy Forum started in Tashkent today. Uzbekistan's renewable energy industry exploded over the last 3-4 years. In 2023-2024, over three gigawatts of renewable energy is coming online. From small rooftops and large solar and wind farms, the market is growing. Uzbekistan is in urgent need of professionals to design, install, and manage these systems. The Green Building Council of Uzbekistan (UzGBC) is here with the generous support of the conference organisers, ITECA. They have been inviting us for three years in a row ensuring that local NGOs promoting green building, energy efficiency, and renewable energy have a voice at this premier energy event of Central Asia. By the way, we believe energy efficiency should be part of every energy conference. Energy efficiency is the cheapest "form of energy." #UzGBC #Uzbekistan #UzbekistanEnergyForum #renewableenergy #energyefficiency

Philippines Streamlines Renewable Energy Development Processes To Boost Investment In a move aimed at bolstering renewable energy (RE) development and attracting investments, the Department of Energy (DOE) of the Philippines has introduced streamlined guidelines for RE projects. Under the newly published regulations governing the award and administration of RE contracts, developers are now empowered to commence permit processing and conduct feasibility activities even before the official commencement of their 25-year contract terms. This marks a departure from previous norms where such activities were only allowed post-contract approval and signing by the Energy Secretary. Developers will receive a Certificate of Authority (COA) from the DOE, granting them the authority to […] Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ddBsrGNF #solarenergy #alternativeenergy #solarpv #pvsolar #photovoltaic #cleanenergy #cleantech #climatechange #middleeast #africa #india #asiapacific #asia #philippines #renewableenergy #solarenergy #southeastasia
