In April, we got a text from Benjamin Weinman from The Dillinger Escape Plan (and if you didn't know, also from the legendary Suicidal Tendencies!). He said, "Hey I bought some holographic fans, we should use them at our Dillinger reunion shows in June." We said, "Great! What's a holographic fan?". A few basement tests later, Nervy Pictures got the fans running. It was going to work. Now we just needed some great partners - and we found them in Nick Agderian, Mandy Agderian, Oleg Rooz, Fancy House of Visual Effects, and Evan Fleischer to pull it off with fantastic imagery and animation. Simply put, it wowed the Brooklyn audiences and they experienced something quite unexpected at a metal/hardcore show. Three nights of live "holographic performance" in June at Brooklyn Paramount Theater, manually triggering the video content against some pretty tricky musical cues. For the uninitiated, one listen to this sizzle video will make it clear just how tricky it was. Hats off to the fantastic Squeek Lights and Victor Zeiser and his crew for making us feel very much a part of the team, during rehearsals and throughout the whole experience. A special shout out to Travis Wade at Shelter Music Group for bringing all of it together, as he always does. Who wants to try the next unexpected experience for your project? #experiential #immersive #liveevents #innovation #holograms #animation

Good luck tonight, Nimona! ✨ Here's my acting test, with the references I used! The first one is from the movie Smithereens: when I was starting the test I did some research of classic punk movies with female leads. One that stood out was Smithereens, from 1982. The kitchen scene reminded me of Ballister's Lair and the staging was great, so I used it as a starting point. After blocking the first pass I realized I had to push the acting more: I added more physicality to the kick, more headbanging, some hair guitar, more changes of expressions and lip syncing. Now the scene needed an ending. So I thought of adding the TV with the 'Wanted' ad. While Nimona walks towards the TV she opens the soda can. I like animating these kind of details and I shot a reference just for that, and then another one for the final reaction. The references were a good base, but as it always happen, there comes a moment where you have to start pushing the poses, the timing, and add details to finally bring the character to life. Animated at Blue Sky Studios, 2019 / 2020 #nimona #characteranimation #3danimation

Exciting! I was given the green light to share some making-of breakdowns from my time at Fuse FX! This first clip was our VES awards video presentation, narrated by the sexy-voiced Jessie Sanchez, who also produced all the VFX for the season. Best part: you get a glimpse at my adorable 4 year-old son waring a dinosaur costume! Acknowledgement: 9-1-1 is probably THE most ambitious primetime broadcast network TV show out there. Produced by the notoriously fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants Ryan Murphy studios, the show's various production departments, especially VFX, are barely rolling with the punches on a crazy weekly production schedule. For the VFX team, the first priority is supporting the story in an engaging way and cater to ~95% of the show's viewers. Anything beyond that is gravy. That said, I know that many in my LinkedIn network (including myself) align with the other ~5% who'd notice and be bothered by the seams. The best way I can put it is: when you have one week to send shots through animation, simulation, lighting, rendering, compositing etc. you get what you get and you do your best with it. On this premiere episode, we won some, we lost some, and overall tried to keep things consistent. There are shots that look 100% and some that look 80% (and we all know how long it would take to bridge that gap). It was definitely one of my hardest fought battles, and at the end of the day, I'm proud of having spearheaded this. Thanks to all the talented people who contributed!

What "Game of Thrones' did for TV, I wanted 'Blue Eye Samurai' to do for TV series animation" Watch how the incredible producer Jane Wu took the audience to a - I quote - "fusion restaurant" with this series, using live-action approach for the fight scene, visual techniques inspired by traditional Ukiyo-e art for the production design, applying VFX methods to the pipeline... PS: if you haven't watched the series, block out your weekend and get on it. https://lnkd.in/d_GAMkbz

Hey marketer/print friends: Augmented Reality for me has always been about bringing up information when/where needed. This is not new - hell - I've been making experiences like this since 2011... only now it's super easy! When I started this journey it's all I ever wanted to do - make things more engaging - if it made sense. Movie posters are the PERFECT use for seeing the movie trailer, buying tickets, and looking at some fun exclusive content. It also contains analytics so you can see how many views a print has had, where (general location for privacy), and for how long it was engaged. There has NEVER been a better time to start exploring how to bridge digital with traditional. We've made it super simple - I made what you see in the video in ten minutes - no code for you to design and no app needed to view the content - it's all in the browser. What was old is still old - but still new to many. I'm going to be setting up a live webinar - comment on this post so I can be sure to let you know when. #WebAR #AR #AugmentedReality #History #Education #Tourism #movieposter #movies #cinema #RealEstate #marketing #PrintCAST #WorldCAST
CVO - KP9 Interactive - Focused on the democratization of Augmented Reality. Insider to tech - outsider to industry.
Interactive #WebAR movie posters may be an old idea - but I still don't see them often enough. So easy to do now - I made this in 10 minutes while waiting for my daughter to get done work at Cineplex I am surprised QR codes are not available even if not using AR - I'm lazy - I want access to the trailer/tickets right away - haha. Model Creators: Dax - Jacob Quintana Street Scene - Melissa Descubes Models used are provided by Sketchfab which is directly integrated into WorldCAST.

Hollywood has a way with animation films that strike the right balance between entertainment and life lessons. And Disney coupled with Pixar is a match made in heaven! What gems they have given us - Inside Out being the most amazing one. A brilliant film that personified emotions and took us into a tween girl's headspace, it won the Oscar for best animation film that year. Now the sequel comes with a lot of viewer expectations riding on it. Part 2 doesn't disappoint, but doesn't fascinate either. Diving into Riley's head just as she crosses 13, one would have expected more of a complexed story. Instead, the film focuses on the ice-hockey tournament that Riley is preparing for, and the introduction of new emotions, notably anxiety. Anxiety hogs a lot of space, both in terms of screen space and the way it messes up Riley. True, it does control a large part of a teenager's life, but so do confusion, angst, bewilderment and changing priorities. Wish the film talked more about a teenager's sense of uncertainty about self, coupled with a desire to fit in. (It touches upon it.) Still, not a bad start! Must-watch roller coaster of a film! While Reviewing Angela yolanda work, I recommend upcoming animators to really study acting references, follow a procedural way to block out the scene, and keep refining the blocking until it's in a satisfactory stage. Rushing to clean up can lead to frustration, as there is no way to clean up incomplete information. #AnimationTips #ActingReferences #SceneBlocking #AnimationProcess #Refinement #ProfessionalDevelopment #CreativeJourney #ArtisticGrowth #LinkedInLearning #AnimationCommunity
