Corporate Alignment, is the need of the hour that centers on bridging the gap between academia and industry, fostering a strategic alignment that benefits both students and the broader corporate world. In today's rapidly evolving job market, it is crucial that universities evolve from being isolated educational institutions to dynamic, collaborative hubs. By establishing strong corporate partnerships, we can ensure that our curriculum remains relevant, equips students with the skills needed by employers, and offers real-world experiences that prepare them for success in the workforce. This alignment not only enhances the employability of graduates but also strengthens the reputation of the university as an active contributor to industry growth and innovation. Thanks to WOXSEN School of Technology for this great initiative and opportunity..... Woxsen University Higher Education

In my second year at KMITL University, I had the opportunity to work on a project inspired by a real-world challenge. We noticed a concerning trend among first-year students in our department — many were drinking heavily during department activities. Worried about their safety, my team and I decided to take action. We developed a website to manage check-ins and check-outs during our department activities. The system allowed us to track who attended and ensure they got home safely. If someone appeared to have overindulged, second-year students with cars would volunteer to drive them home based on the address they provided on the website. As a result, during that year's activities, no one got injured, and all first-year students returned home safely. It was a proud moment for us to see how our technical skills could make a meaningful impact on our community. This project taught me that technology isn’t just about innovation; it’s also about responsibility and caring for others. #RealWorldProblemSolving #WebDevelopment #CommunitySafety #StudentLife #SoftwareEngineering #KMITL #TechForGood

[Challenge Accepted] This week, Ebow HS strolled up to me with this (👇) in his hand. "It's for you," he said, grinning. I immediately knew what it meant -- at least to me. Ebow is one of a mere handful of #SterileProcessing professionals around the globe who hold the FCS distinction (Fellow Central Service) through HSPA, an honorable distinction earned through deep research, commitment, and publication within our industry. And as soon as I took this challenge coin into my hand, I knew what I had to do. So yes, at this very moment, I'm working through the FCS application, determining my research topic, and buckling up for a step I should have taken long ago. Thanks Ebow, I needed the push. Let's do this thing. 💪 [You can find out more about the FCS Fellowship program and current Fellows by visiting: https://lnkd.in/gD6dhK6c] #FCS #Fellowship #Research #Application #Challenge #Growth

If you work in student success and are wondering about how to translate data into action for your first-generation students, sign up to hear one of my favorite speakers.
Join me on Tuesday, October 29th, at 2 pm EST for the Chronicle of Higher Education's virtual forum, "Ensuring First-Gen Students Thrive on Campus," where I will discuss UTSA’s data-informed approach to supporting the success of our first-generation students and how we’re addressing the "cost of experience" to create a more inclusive and equitable campus environment. By leveraging data and a collaborative framework, we’re making strides to connect students with the support, resources, and community they need for academic, professional, and personal growth. I'm looking forward to sharing these insights on how we’re making UTSA a place where every student can thrive! #StudentSuccess #FirstGen #Thrive #HigherEd #UTSA

Coming back to the UCSC campus as a living lab to make a few specific points about sustainability implementation. An elaborate network of offices, labs and centers with a central Sustainbility office is set up. Components and nodes include Natural and lagoon reserves, gardens, agroecology, greenhouse arboretum, incubators and coordinators with spaces for people of Color, and such. Courses and minors in sustainability are linked to the lab to ensure experiential learning with administration’s commitments and engagement. Incubators train students and teams on multi- and trans-disciplinary supports via courses, mentorship’s, facilities, equipment and so on. Coordinators ensure communications within and without the campus. The Living Lab, Incubators and Coordinators are considered the key components of the Campus Living Lab or CLL network. Each one plays multiple roles to ensure success of learning and implementation in the phase space of theory to practice and reductionism to holism as discussed in the previous podcast. Internships and entrepreneurial learnings are key steps towards practical and holistic education and training. Skills needed before entering the program are mapped for the participants and the facilitators - safety, project feasibility evaluation, technical and organisational skills, self-learning abilities, problem-solving aptitudes, leaderships, interpersonal skills and so on. Learner preparation and exposure to experiential learning are found to be critical. Curricular gaps in complex skills must be addressed since experiential learning literature doesn’t address the gaps fully. Not surprisingly, institutional support is quintessential for CLL to succeed in its purpose, function, and for with reliability, validity and workability. Funding is an integral part of this institutional support. Professionalism has to be taught by leading with example from the institution. #sustainability #campus #netzero #climatechange #sustainabilityeducation #renewableenergy #resilience #highereducation #decarbonization #climate https://lnkd.in/d7HRTaWE

🔬🌟 Reflecting on a Decade of Achievement: Celebrating British Science Week with the Science Industry Partnership 🌟🔬 As we commemorate British Science Week, it's an opportune moment to pause and acknowledge the strides made by the Science Industry Partnership (SIP) in bolstering the life science sector over the past decade. Our journey has been marked by milestones that have not only shaped the industry landscape but also paved the way for a brighter future. Here are some key achievements: 🔍 Publication of the Skills Strategy 2030 delivering insight and priorities for policy formulation, forecasting skills demand and new jobs in industry. A refresh in 2024 will include advances in AI and data analysis of sector-specific skills shortages. 🤝 Leveraging the Life sciences Vision Delivery Board’s interest in skills and talent through our Futures Group-a direct link to the Life sciences Ministerial Council. 💼 £50m announced at the Autumn Statement for apprenticeships as a result of sector lobbying activities and regular dialogue with Government.. 📜 Production of a Sector Skills Manifesto highlighting some of the complexities of the skills landscape and proposing practical employer supported recommendations for the future. As we look back on these achievements, we are reminded of the power of collaboration, innovation, and collective vision. Together, we've laid the groundwork for a thriving life science sector that is poised to tackle the challenges of tomorrow and unlock new opportunities for growth and discovery. Join us in celebrating a decade of progress and envisioning a future where British science continues to lead the way! #BritishScienceWeek2024 #ScienceIndustryPartnership #LifeSciences #SkillsStrategy #Collaboration #Innovation #FutureOfWork
