As we come to the end of this year, we have a lot to celebrate at Nasdaq. One milestone I’m particularly proud to celebrate is 500 listing switches to Nasdaq, with 23 companies switching this year alone. From The Campbell's Company to Palantir Technologies, one thing that characterizes the brands that choose to list with us is their relentless dedication to innovation. What Are the Fifth-Letter Identifiers on the Nasdaq? Most companies traded on the #Nasdaq have four-lettered ticker symbols, which are representative of the actual company. For example, the ticker symbol for Nasdaq-traded Microsoft is MSFT. However, in some cases, a ticker symbol on the Nasdaq will have three letters or up to five letters. The fifth letter is an identifier symbol that tells market participants something about the company. https://lnkd.in/gmmv5cEd #ipo #nasdaq #nyse #capitalmarkets #srfc

The Impact of Peers on IPO Exchange Selection Having led marketing efforts Nasdaq and NYSE, I've witnessed the diverse reasons behind companies' Exchange selections, ranging from strategic to hasty. The vetting process involves extensive meetings, tours, proposals, and analysis, with each Exchange vying for an IPO listing. A common theme emphasized by Exchanges is the importance of aligning with your peer set or aspirations. They advocate, "It's all about the company you keep." But what does this mean, and how crucial is it? Nasdaq's identity as the "tech" exchange and NYSE as the "blue chip" Exchange stems from their respective histories. NYSE boasts a long-standing tradition with household names like The Coca-Cola Company and GE, while Nasdaq, launched as the first electronic stock market, attracted tech giants like Apple and Microsoft due to its less restrictive listing standards. The distinction between the two blurred when NYSE revamped its listing requirements, aggressively courting tech companies and winning a significant share of tech IPOs. Today, while Nasdaq still hosts more tech firms and NYSE houses more classic blue chips, the lines between the two are more blurred than ever, offering companies greater optionality and choice. Recent examples, like Reddit, Inc. opting for NYSE and Astera Labs choosing Nasdaq for their IPOs, demonstrate that success isn't tied solely to the Exchange but to forging one's own path. So the question remains - is it really about the company you keep or are you going to forge your own path? #IPO #Stockexchange #Stocks #Nasdaq #NYSE

What's the scoop on the Nasdaq Capital Market? It's where up-and-coming companies with smaller market caps start their Nasdaq journey. Requirements are more flexible compared to the bigger leagues on Nasdaq, making it accessible for early-stage firms. To roll with Nasdaq Capital Market, companies need: $750,000+ net income, 1,000,000+ public float shares, 300+ shareholders, and a share price of $4+ (with exceptions). How much capital to catapult growth do you want to raise? You bring the net income, we'll rally the shareholders! Level up to the Nasdaq Capital Market with us — let's make moves together! #GOPUBLIC

Great piece. That's impressive, Nelson. To think we had to change the software 20 plus years ago to double-byte encrypted to be able to accomondate single, double and three-letter stock symbols for NYSE stocks to move seemlessly to Nasdaq. "You've come a long way baby." Congratulations. Proud of you all.
