Night Construction Manager in Renewals and Enhancements at London Underground at London Underground

A call out to the various safety professionals who read my posts, this is Adan Mcintyre a young chap working for Morsons on the LU track renewals workstream as a PWT ( site manager), some may remember him from a previous post featuring his remarkable briefings and use of his own checklist for such. Adan is thinking about a career path as a safety professional and would be interested to have input from those who took the same step . I have tried my best to talk him out of the idea but he is still keen on joining the darkside🤔😆

Adan, I took the same path as Neil will tell you. It’s not an easy route. One piece of advice if you do, never let yourself be compromised.

Adan, I took the same path. Whilst working as a PWT I studied the NEBOSH Construction certificate via distance learning, working nights and going through the course materials during the day. It’s probably one of the best decisions I made. That was in 2015.

Thank you so much for your kind words again Neil! I'm truly passionate about health and safety in the railway industry, and I'm always eager to learn more to help create a safer environment for everyone involved. Gaining further knowledge in this field is something I’m really dedicated to, and I would love to hear from others about this particular career path.

Adan I also took the same path, there has been some great advice posted on here, remember experience is key to your safety role. my advice would be to stick with what you are doing, there are many open university's you can sign up to, these offer many HSQE courses at various levels and can all be studied at your own pace from home. I have recently rebuilt a company HSQE's folder keep, all the documents then apply for your NVQ L6 IOSH all of your working experiences and interactions then will gradually complete your portfolio. CPD is very important as this is an ever changing industry. this is a great stepping stone. Many of these open university's offer lifetime access for a small fee and and all courses are CPD accredited. Alison is a great platform as it covers many ISO courses for free.! you just pay for your certs. Mate any help I can provide feel free to contact me. it is refreshing to see that your trying to better yourself..Fair Play to Neil Pepper for promoting you. good luck mate

NEBOSH Gen cert or construction is a good place to start. I done mine and even though I am not a safety professional, it has helped me no end to appreciate and respect the responsibilities placed on you in this industry. Keep on keeping on 👍
