Nebius Group’s Post

Nebius Group is currently the only publicly traded independent AI infrastructure provider – but what does that mean for our business? Our founder and CEO, Arkady Volozh, set out the advantages of public status at the recent FT Live Future of AI Summit in London. During a wide-ranging fireside chat with the FT's Tech Comment Editor, Elaine Moore, Arkady spoke about Nebius' journey and our different businesses, and provided valuable insights into the AI infrastructure boom and investment trends for the years ahead. Well, positioning as the sole publicly traded independent AI infrastructure provider could create unique opportunities for investors looking to capitalize on the AI boom. Being public company also signals a level of transparency and market confidence. Given the rapid evolution in AI, it will be super fascinating to see how Nebius will evolve and scale up.

Considering the market entry, Nebius at this point is probably the only AI-infra player adequately priced based on fundamentals and has tremendous potential for the future growth. The oligopolistic incumbents currently enjoying AI craze, high entry barriers and hence oversized margins are perfect case for a bold disruptor like Nebius. But next moves might be tricky as the AI market is starting to lose its fizz. Major investors like Goldman Sachs and Sequoia Capital have expressed concerns about the disconnect between the billions required to create and use large-scale AI and the weak market fit and tepid returns. Should Nebius offer a viable solution - the moon is the limit.

It's a good space to be in. Capital is never truly "free," even for cash-rich entities. The "opportunity cost of capital" is always a factor, and in today's market, it can be particularly significant. Public messaging should avoid highlighting this point. It seems Mr. Volozh could benefit from skilled financial and PR advisors.
